Hey all,

Looking for a little advice/ would like to vent a bit.

So I bought my 13' Ram 1500 Sport in October of 16 certified pre-owned with 54,278 Miles.

They performed their "certified pre-owned vehicle inspection checklist" few days prior to me purchasing the truck so I can't imagine how they missed what they missed.. anyways..

Few days into driving the truck it got warm enough to me to roll down the windows while driving and I heard a very sharp squeaking noise while driving, had cruise control locked out and also heard a noise from the fan clutch so I brought it into the dealership to have them taken care of.

10/21/16 They called me the next day and said she was ready to be picked up and everything had been fixed. New alignment fixed the cruise control lock, new fan clutch and per their service paper work "Greased and lubed front end and noise is no longer present" AWESOME!

I didn't even make it out of the lot before I heard the Squeaking noise again and went right back into the office, asked a tech to come for a test drive, made it to the end of the lot again before we turned around and decided it needed to be looked at again.

10/28/16, they ended up finding both front motor mounts were causing squeaks so per their paperwork "Replaced both front motor mounts, strut mount bolts and a lower control arm/strut bolts"

I'm discovering now the part numbers are for the shock mounts not the motor mounts so there must have been some kind of miscommunication when the service writer did the paperwork.

I have a daily I drive to work most of the time so since that appointment I've only put around 17,000 miles on it.

About a month ago my Mother in law got into a fender bender and I lent her the daily and started driving the ram to work and noticed the squeak is back. I'm able to replicate it when parked by rocking the front end side to side. For all I know it could have been doing this all winter and I'm just now discovering it as its getting worse and now I have the windows down when driving.

I guess my question is, There must be something else going on, new mounts shouldn't have issues after only 17k right? Was that even the problem from the beginning?

Sounds like bushings. Mine does the same. I sprayed all my bushings with wd-40, sway bar end link, upper and lower control arm, etc and it fixed the squeaking for a few months but it has recently returned to somewhere in the rear I just haven't reapplied wd-40 yet.

My bushings look fine, they're not pinched, bulging, dry rotted, etc so I wont replace them yet.

I feel your pain with this, do you have a front level kit?
This happens to me about every three months took for ever to find this squeak at first I thought it was coming from the rear. I would seriously spend every day shaking my truck trying to find it.
Eventually I found the noise coming from the front shock bushings. They are secure, tight, and not wearing at all even with a 2.5 level kit so pretty much every three months I have to spray a silicone lubricant spray down through the top strut nut hole and it takes care of it.
Hope this helps, I use the silicone lubricant because in worried pb blaster or wd40 will ruin the bushings.

Haha same here, I had completely pulled my spare, removed my rear coil spacers, secure emergency brake cord, chirp chirp over bumps. Cannot think of anything more annoying. Lol
