I know this isn't the diesel forums, but I have an EcoDiesel and just installed the GDE tune. It coasts a lot longer at speeds before slowing... So what I've been doing for the purpose of fuel economy and to play with my MPG's... Is baby the gas and as soon as my current MPG gets down with my Average MPG, off the pedal and coast. And repeat over and over again... So I never really "gun it" but am always gaining in Average MPG because it's either at or above the current average. By doing this on/off the pedal over and over again am I causing any long term engine issues? I can't imagine so since that's what the throttle does... On and off the gas, but figured I'd ask :)

Gas or diesel, I'm sure you're fine. It would be a different story if you were treating the throttle like an on/off switch instead of babying it.

No, just babying... Light pressure then none at all and repeat. It's doing wonders for fuel economy! (as far as the dash is concerned)

Verify with the calculator at the pump! In Corvette world that's the trick to getting 30mpg on the highway with C6Z. Get to cruising speed, dump it in 6th and gently pulse the throttle and coast. That method hasn't done much for my Ram though. However, my truck isn't geared for the absolute best MPG on the highway. But it still get's at least advertised MPG though using cruise control, so I'm cool with it.

It seems to work well with the GDE tune. It definitely has a lot more "coasting power"
