I’m replacing the 26 gallon fuel tank on my 2018 BigHorn 3.6L due to problems filling it up at the gas station. The problem has gotten worse over the past year and the dealer says it needs a new tank. At $1600 dealer repair I’ve elected to do it myself for under $400 for both the tank and charcoal EVAP canister. I received the new tank today and I’m a little stumped on the attached line. I haven’t pulled the old tank out but I’ve watched a few YouTube vids on the fuel pump replacement. I have this line pictured below inside the new tank. It’s attached to some sort of interior vent and I don’t see where it would attach to the fuel pump in any vids I’ve watched. Can someone tell me exactly what it is and where it goes?

You should have told the dealer were to place it when they told you you needed a new fuel tank.

For anyone that may have the same question as I originally had the line inside the 3.6L V6 gas tank attaches to the fuel pump. The Pentastar fuel pump is like the Jeep GC not like the 5.7L Hemi fuel pump. It’s pretty self explanatory once you have everything apart.

For anyone who chooses to replace their own gas tank due to slow/no fill at the gas station it’s not too bad of a DYI. Took me about 5 hours to replace the purge valve, change out the fuel filler neck, replace the vent filter, tank and EVAP canister. Sure beat paying the stealership $1600.

Glad you found a fuel tank. I am no so lucky. I have a 2014 2500 Ram. Its tank was drilled in an attempt to get the fuel by some thief while I was in Church. Yea they did the drilling in the Church parking lot. No they did not get the fuel as they were spooked and ran leaving the leak and catch pan behind. Thirty gallons of fuel all over the place. I do not have the confidence to get a Titan 50 gallon tank and replace it myself. The good and bad of it is the damage it is covered by insurance and but must be an OEM or MOPAR tank. Troubel is there does not appear to be any such tank to be found as it has been on back order for over a month now. Any suggestions on where to get a new tank of how to convence USAA to allow the install of a Non OEM tank? I have had no luck with salavage yards either.

Good luck with USAA, I have them too and they are very rigid on repair claims. Have you tried bamwholesaleparts.com? I got my 1500 tank from them when local dealers claimed they couldn’t get it for 3 weeks. They are a CDJR dealership in Ohio.

I had my tank replaced under warranty and now my fuel economy screen behaves differently. Sound familiar? Wondering if anyone else had this happen.
