hello so ive got a question and lets see if anybody can help me out because im stumped.

i have a 2015 1500 with the hemi with 16k miles and im having some battery/charging issues.
the truck starts and runs/drives fine and the battery has never died on me. but i know that the battery voltage while the truck is running should be 14.5v but ive had it bouncing between high 14v and low 15v at times and now the battery sits at a constant 13v and occasionally jumps to 14V for a few seconds. this is the case if i have all my lights on and the fan on full blast of if everything is off. i just find it kind of funky and im worried something is about to give out and id just like to pinpoint it and replace the component before it leaves me stranded any input is greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU

Alternator and battery issues are a "what came first, chicken or the egg" scenario when troubleshooting. You really need to have the alternator and the battery load tested separately off the truck to see what is dragging what down.

You can have a flaky battery cell playing havoc on the alternator and dragging the voltage regulation circuit down or the a bad alternator that will eventually fry the battery and you will then need both a alternator and a new battery.

If still in warranty, have the dealership look at it first.

I watch my voltage regularly. I have around 1500-1600 watts in my sound system but nothing else other than stock systems. I notice mine stay bouncing back and forth between 14 and 15. Even when I've got it cranked up and the bass is booming. Other times it will be on 13 and not move. Even when the system isn't playing. Then I'll stop or park for the night and next time I get it in it goes back to 14-15. I have upgraded my charging cables and grounds under the hood by doing the big 3/4. I've read that these alternators are controlled by a meter clamp of sorts that the alternator power going to the battery runs through and tells the trucks ecu or whatever when to charge or not. I didn't fit the positive off the alt to the battery through this device. I actually never found it because I think it's covered up by all the tape they have on the cables going to and from the battery positive and ground cables. This may be the issue with mine and yours. Whether it's a issue or not I really don't know. I know my sound system jams and I've never had any light dimming issues or starting problems.
