So i had another "brilliant idea" yesterday after looking at Jeremy's website..lol (RetroShop.us - Custom Lighting if you don't know who I'm talking about )

Has anyone done this ? If so would it be a "simple" swap to put the FX-R in the stock low beam projectors place or is it going to be quite a project? I've seen some before and afters and I looks impressive. For the price of the projectors I think I might be down for a little DIY.

Just depends on how much work I'd be looking at doing lol. Any input is appreciated!

I've done about 200 of 'em now...... ;)

The process, once the lights are open, is not complex. The fun part is getting the lights open, and sealed properly.

Haha yep that's about 200 more than me! ;)

Okay so would I need to fab anything up or do they just screw in?

From what i hear is a special kind of "fun" getting the lights open! Lol

My FX-R swap kit that Jeremy has so graciously provided is on it's way :love51: I will probably document the process like I do most of my mods in my build thread if you want to keep an eye in there. I'll probably be picking Jeremy's brain for the switchback mods as well.

Thanks, it's a lot of fun to drive ... when I can get it started, lol. Is winter over yet?

Sadly, it doesn't need to be brutally cold for my low compression/high fuel volume engine to not start. 2C and it's not wanting to start unless it's been plugged in for an hour. Normally we're colder than the east but this year it's been the complete opposite, we're not complaining ;) I feel sorry for my coworker, he lives in NB and has 9ft of snow in his yard right now.

As for my lights, I'm curious to see the state of the internals after having the 55w HIDs in them for over a year, the oem projectors don't usually do well with the added heat. I wasn't going to touch them again for a while but then Jeremy release those damned switchback boards and I knew I needed to get rid of my cobbled together white DRL setup.

Ahh gotcha lol! Yeah it's been pretty docile for the most part here too! If I didn't buy a new sled this year I'd be happy about that lol!

I'm planning to do the swap too. It's a bolt in kit... it's just getting the lenses off that's a PITA. From what I've heard it's a 250*F for like 1 5min and keep doing it.

That's the part I don't like lol! Something about putting an $800 plastic headlamp (price according to the dealer) in an over scares me lol! Then I'd be worried I didn't get it sealed up correctly!

Hmmm, I saved myself the hassle of that worry! I had Jeremy open them up, install the lenses, paint the shrouds black matching the truck. I've not had one issue with fogging of the lenses outside of the normal at the lower led. You gotta admit these are expensive lamps to f*ck up, take your time, check, recheck, and then again check. Best move I've made is getting to know Jeremy. Super cool and a lot of experience in this area.
