I'm contemplating kicking that tall cabinet on the right over towards the door, throwing in another cabinet up top, and extending the worktop. Only have 84 inches of worktop now and I am used to more. 112 inches would be nice. Since I dont have room for the full size fridge, I may consider a smaller on that can go under the benchtop.

I would move the cabinet. Makes wall space more useful. Looks like it would be easy.
Yeah, unfortunately, it's not that easy. Not easy to move and the bench top I have now is max length, so I'd have to use two pieces or custom make a solid piece. Not 100% sure on my fridge setup either. I'll mull it over while I work on other things in the garage.

I get it. Just looked like you could add one more center cabinet but did not realize that a bench top was going in the center. You will figure it out.

Just unboxed the stainless countertop. Very nice construction. All edges are rolled and it has a wood core. Looks like there's a thin wood laminate glued on the bottom, so I can't get a complete picture of the wood structure, but it's definitely hefty. I guestimate 65ish pounds for 84 inches. Going fishing Thursday and the garage cabinets are out of the dinning room, so things are going to slow a bit for a moment. I'm sure the pressure will crank back up to get the garage door openers in once it starts snowing. IMG_20181030_225029.jpg IMG_20181030_225049.jpg

I must say as well, the more I look at the floor, the more I'm loving it. Lots of character and depth. If I could redo, I'd use a full kit of my accent color versus a half kit, which means half the amount of the base color vs. a quarter. There's some spots that are definitely light on the accent and the variation is what makes it really interesting. You can really walk around with a beer staring at the floor finding new patterns to admire.IMG_20181030_225424.jpg IMG_20181030_225406.jpg IMG_20181030_225815.jpg IMG_20181030_225446.jpg IMG_20181030_225430.jpg

I love the floor. hopefully you can still find screws and bolts when you drop them after working on some project.
I think it'll be easier even with the gray due to high gloss contrast tbh. Time will tell.

We've been in our house for 12 yrs. I did a cheap epoxy floor, and it lifted after a few yrs. I didn't prep it properly, so that's on me. I want someone to come in and do the proper job, which will involve emptying the garage into a pod for a month. It would be worth it for the finished product. it's about $5/sq ft. I'm around 700 sq feet total.

$5 per sqft is cheaper than the quotes I got. For the floor I have now to be professionally done would have been $10+/sqft. It's going to be extra elbow grease to strip anything off that's flaking

I'm sure it's too late now, but I had my cabinets about a foot off the floor. I can stick things under the cabinets that I like to get out of the way, like oil drain pans.
I did raise the cabinets about 4 inches off the floor for two purposes. One, there's predrilled holes for supporting the counter on the tall cabinets and I wanted the worktop a little higher around 36 to 37 inches. Two, I clear the stem wall, so I get a few much needed inches to squeeze my truck in front of the bench.

I'm lucky I have an L-shaped garage. I park on the elbow side and get much needed clearance in front of my truck. i'm just glad my dogs don't jump all over my front bumper when they go outside. It's also right by my service door, so the kids are constantly in/out. Next garage will be a 35' deep unit.

Got back to it a little bit today and just about wrapped up the cabinets. I'm extremely impressed with the construction. Especially the base cabinets. The two door unit has a soft close tray in the middle and the full drawer unit came with customizable dividers and a very thin foam on the bottom. Just need to get some lights and figure out the 8 shelves for the tall cabinets. Oh, probably need to figure out a pegboard for the bench wall, maybe stainless steel if that won't be too much stainless. Oh, and a new chair. Bench height is 38.5 inches off the ground. Oh, I'm sure I'm forgetting something else lolIMG_20181110_174555.jpg IMG_20181110_174601.jpg IMG_20181110_174545.jpg IMG_20181110_174436.jpg

Anybody have any nifty ideas for steps? I was thinking about making some out of ipe. Step out onto a level first step, or immediately step down?IMG_20181110_175240.jpg
