Gas Tank Strap

Well, yesterday I received the letter from FCA that the warrant for gas tank strap issue is extended from 3 year, 36,000 miles to 12 year, unlimited mileage.

The garage I use for oil change and mechanical repairs for all my vehicles for the last 25 years has no problem with me inspecting the underside when car is up on the lift. Based on the inspections I have done on the RAM over the last 74,000 miles show everything to be in great shape. The guys are always commenting how good the bottom looks for a daily driver that has been parked outside it's entire life.

It goes to show that taking it to the self serve car wash after winter storms to spray off the road salt is worth the effort.

I got the same letter for my 2017. I doubt I'll have much trouble with rust here in South Carolina, but its something ill keep an eye on. I do all my own maintance, so ill catch it early if it does rust.

There's a thread somewhere that shows where to drill a hole in the mounting point to drain water that accumulates and rusts it out causing failure.

Mine arrived on Monday. But moving to SC near dav8388 in a few months so it may be a non issue.

Got my letter the other week. Up here in New Hampshire and all the wintery months of salt, think I will keep an eye on it, just incase.

Just got a letter from FCA today saying the warranty is being extended from 3 yr/ 36K to 12 yr/ unlimited, so a heads up if you're having any issues.

BTW the models affected are "certain 2009 - 2018 Ram 1500" trucks.
