Ok guys. Gave the guy that's doin my gears the heads up that in a few weeks ill be ready to drop the truck off to have the gears installed. Thus guy works at the guard station at the plant I work at, and he has been rebuilding motors, rear ends, and tranny's for 25 yrs.
I didn't have time to ask him was all I needed so Imma ask yall.
I know I need a
master install kit
Gear fluid
New cover ;)

I also have the stock LSD, is there a special fluid I need for it?, and I'm aware ill need to either shave a tooth on the ring gear or shave the pin... But I'd like to have something I can print off for him.

Thanks for the input and if I'm forgetting something, slap me in the head and get me right lol.
Robb

I saw it and forgot to respond! Haha. As long as you have the gears, master install kit, and new fluid you'll be good to go.

There's a sticky thread in the DIY section by Sullivan that has all the oil weights. I'm at a rangers game and can't remover right now.

can use 75-90 or 75-140, most of the new fluids nowadays have the lsd additive already in it (it will say on the container), but use cheap stuff for the breakin because your gonna change it after the 500 mile breakin period...what brand gears are you getting? The Motive 4.56's seem to be the gears that need to shave the pin (I just did my Motives last friday)... might want to pick up new axle seals (they're cheap) since the axles will be pulled), there is a special tool to loosen the carrier adjusters (ask your friend if he can get it or can make it) to pull the carrier (in order to get to pinion)

hehe... ya think? :)

here's some pics of the tool I made..i went to home depot in plumbing/heating dept and got all parts there..the nut size is approx 1 3/8" dia, find a fat one if you can because when i use it, i keep on pushing the nut through the adjuster hole, or, get 2 nuts and have them turned a little different so that an edge will hook onto adjuster and not push thru... on the other end i fitted a pipe end so that I could put a socket and tq wrench on it as you have to tq it to 75 lbs.

you can see the adjuster to the left in the pic...

I've got the 4.88 gears, but a guy at work is desperate for them lol (hes has a 4.7 and 37's) so I'm trying to work on getting 4.56 gears.

You need that tool if you want to adjust backlash, so it is necessary. That happens to be homemade.

its really the only 'special' tool you need, and you need it in order to remove the carrier as well... besides an impact (unless you get the flange tool also, then you can use a breaker bar/tq wrench to tighten) because you have to tighten the pinion nut down to 210ft lbs..then maybe 5lbs more depending on adjustment...

Chrysler calls it
C-4164 Differential Bearing Preload Wrench. Fred did a great job at making his own.

is this tool used on other differentials besides the Chrysler 9.25.?? If so I'm sure he has it.
