So...I went to my local 5 star where I'm friends with most the people there (know the owner etc). New gears and install kit, 3.92 Mopar, just under $500. Not bad. Then to install them, they would charge me $420 ($70 and hour for 6 hours). So, a shade under a grand.

So...now is 1k worth it from 3.21 to 3.92? I assume I won't keep the truck beyond 2-3 years, who does these days? Any thoughts, comments? I would do the install myself but rear ends and transmissions arent my thing. Would be nice to save $500 tho....

IMHO 6 hours sound like a little long just to change and set up new gears, especially if your only 2 wheel drive. I don't know what the book calls for???
If it were me. I'd shop around a little but IMO it would be worth it depending on how you use your truck. You'll be able to feel the difference!!!

I dont pull anything, its more for my piece of mind knowing I hate ther proper gear for a truck. But the book calls for 6 hours. The rate here is $95 an hour, my cost was $70. Either way, i dont know if $1000 is worth piece of mind, less gas mileage, better performance lol.

2-3 years is not really a long time... could probably just buy your next truck with them in it factory, save a grand. If you were gonna own it awhile, maybe. But this is me, only you can make the call, if you want them bad enough, you'll get them now and not look back.

^^I agree. Time goes by fast. I can believe I had my 2013 for almost a year. I kick myself for not paying $50 for the 3.92, but it's my first truck and I thought I had educated myself enough before my purchase, I guess not. I thought about upgrade from 3.21 - - 4.10 once the stock tires run down, but the cost probably run me about $2,000 for 4X4. I always debate if it's worth it or not.

If you have not driven a truck with 3.92, I would do that first. If you want it, go for it!!

yeah i wouldn't do it if you don't plan to own the truck very long. it won't really up your resale value enough to justify it either
