Looking to get back into a Ram since I sold my "17 night edition (great truck) a couple years ago.

Saw a used Ram for sale in my area, SW Florida, very low miles (4600) MSRP seems like it was an MSRP of 53000 approximately originally.
Truck is in pretty good shape, couple of scratches, and a very small area where there seemed to be some minor body work done in the driver side rear corner, otherwise very clean, white sport edition 4wd crew cab and 5'7" box.
They're asking 41k and don't seem to want to budge on it.
Market is kind of pricy here though.
I'm just wondering if it might be better to just get a new similarly equipped one I see at another dealer.
The other dealer is having a "employee price" event and they have one for 45600 buy it now price, (MSRP 52345).
Obviously I'd try to get it for lower.
I'm just thinking the used one should be a little less, since a new one will only be 4500 more before negotiations.

No offense. But it's a no brainer.

Unless the used one looks spotless and I was coming out closer to 10k in difference really isn't worth it.

Truck with that low of miles and looks like it has had body work....yeah. Someone got rid of it after a run in and it didn't come out right or is eating tires etc

No offense taken, and that worries me too. Carfax shows no accidents and is clean. Truck is spotless except for that spot in the rear (maybe 6” around?) where you can see the body work was done and not very well.
Couple other long scratches along the side as well but it is a used truck originally titled in Tennessee now in Florida.

I have to agree...the new truck is a better deal.

If the accident damage isn't on CarFax then someone didn't report it but you can bet it will detract from the value of the vehicle. Diminished value is a thing now and you'd be stuck with that even though you bought it that way.

$9k off of MSRP is not a good deal for a used truck either.

You didn't mention anything about warranty. My question would be is the base warranty transferrable? With the new truck you are certain to get a full OEM warranty.

Had something similar on wife’s vehicle. You don’t happen to be looking at that used Bighorn at a CarMax dealer are you? I’ve caught them numerous times using another VIN search company and Carmax claims they are the same as CarFax but the reports can be be night and day different. The CarMax report showed no damage or accident however a CarFax report shows two accidents (front end and rear end). Buyer beware...

As in the remainder of the factory warranty? That continues until it expires, regardless of how many owners. Trucks brought into the US from Canada may not have their warranties honored though. I agree about buying new in this case though, would need a much bigger discount to consider the used.

And if you want to look up the exact msrp, look up the window sticker here:

Recent model truck with obvious and poorly done body work that doesn't show up on CarFAX?

Nope.

Walk away.

Sorry if I missed it but is this a 5th gen or classic? 2wd or 4x4?

For a feel on pricing, ex rental big horns 2wd or 4x4 with ~36K miles on them are ~$31-36K-ish.

That 2020 you spotted could be an ex-rental. If so, they probably scooped it up for ~$36K.

What sucks about body work is, more often than not you'll not see it on carfax, etc.

Here’s the back end of the truck. Hard to tell but if you look close the rear left part of the bumper has a slight indentation.
To the left and slightly above the bumper is a small area that they repaired.
