Finally slightly less stock. Michelin AT2's. Haul out Saturday for the run from G'ville SC to the Motor City. Gonna have it all: mountains, hills, flatland, big city. Looking forward to sharing the experience. uploadfromtaptalk1433445209038.jpgView attachment 1

Notice a difference in ride quality/noise?

Surprisingly quiet. Ride quality is excellent for e-rate A/T. Michelin is making fine rubber these days. Can't really tell much difference between these and stock except when the truck corners. These bite in quite a bit harder. 55psi right now to let them stretch. Max load single is #3750 @ 80psi.

recently put Firestone Destination A/Ts on the silverado after the stock goodyears all bulged out with only 65k km on them. so far they seem like good tires and zero road noise so i'm thinking i might grab a set for the Ram too but having a hard time deciding between them or something with a winter rating like the duratracs

Nice job... I'm likely heading the exact same direction once my Firestone's wear out. I've been through probably 4 sets of Michelins on past HD trucks and they are great. I go in with an open mind and research every time and I come to same conclusion.

Interesting the 3750# payload rating. It's always been 3450 in the past.

#3450 dual rating. Having to babysit and post simultaneously. May not get all the info on the first shot.

Congrats!!! Can't wait to replace mine...someday :bawl:
I wish they had a slightly higher load rate version of the LTX/MS2 as I don't want ATs.
Please let us know how they tow!

Any reason for the aversion to the AT's? I went back and forth with all of the usual suspects. Eventually couldn't turn down a 60k warranty that can handle light off-road work.

Agreed.

Same reason I went with the Cooper AT3's. Plenty of "beef" to tow, quiet in normal driving, and I can play in the weeds if I want to. All with a 65K mile warranty.

Good to know about the Coopers. Not much feedback on those that I've found.

:3681700201_eef6d1e2 My aversion to those AT's is that they aren't good for much more than gravel, farm and well maintained fire roads.

The LTX M/S2 is a great tire. If I was doing just on road, I'd of gone that route, but I went right past the AT's because of their reviews. I do have the M/S2's on my Airstream. Don't get me wrong, they're a good tire, just not as good an AT as some others. I'd say they lean more to the road side of the All Terrain spectrum.

Toyo's came with a 50K warranty, 3,750lb capacity and weight 57lbs compared to the 63lbs of the Michelin's.

Although I'd be willing to bet the Michelins will actually last longer.

Let us know how they do towing your setup. :favorites13:

I had misgivings about the Toyo's at first, but so far they've performed great on/off road.

Most I talked to had the same impressions of both tires. I only needed help with the light off road aspect (remote parks, wet gravel approaches, etc..) so the hiway advantage was the selling point with these at's. Had I the need for a more aggressive tire they would not have been my first choice.
That being said, the first haul was nothing less than pleasing. Ran I-26 into Asheville (the steep side) with rain and patchy fog. The wife immediately commented on the fact that movement in the truck was reduced to nearly zero even when being passed by the bobtails and big rigs. Engine noise is still higher than hiway tire noise and there's no more noticable seat vibration than with the stock rubber. Only downside thus far is that I fear mpg's will take a hit since we can now travel at greater speeds with greater stability. Going to wait for flatter terrain before making that call. Have yet to weigh this configuration but I dare say the over/under is 15k GCVW. Rear axle ~#3700, front ~#3200, TT ~#8000-8400.
Just for science's sake I gave it hell on a 7% grade for about a mile and it held 65 mph without sending temps through the roof. Rpm's stuck around 4500 and the HEMI didn't quit. Eased off and brought them down to 3200 for the rest of the climb and speed held at 55. We head down the mountain in a couple of days and get to run some switchbacks heading in to Tenn. Doubt much will change but if'n it does ya'll are gonna hear about it.

Thanks for the update it's good to hear I'm going to invest in a good set of D or E rated tires once the factory's the factory's die... I'm sick of them.

I totally understand why they come stock with those tires. Good load rating, the ride is silky and the tread wear is respectable. The problems only arise when you start using yer truck like a, well, truck.
