About a third of the time I start my truck my compass doesn't register and the GPS just sits there and spins. Most of the time it's no big deal as I don't rely on GPS on a daily basis, but I ended up having to switch to apple maps through Carplay to get home last night and it really frustrated me. So I have two questions:

1) is anyone else experiencing this problem?

2) is this potentially a user error? Is there anything I can do or do better to help the GPS to initialize every day?

Thank you for your time!

I have seen this before on another brands truck, it was the antenna connection at the antenna side. I would bring it to service and let them fix it.

Had that issue on a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Take it into the dealer and get them to fix it. It is covered under warranty and there are at least 3 potetnial causes of that problem, none of which are fixed with the old battery disconnect trick unfortunately. For the Jeep they ended up having to replace the whole radio/Uconnect unit, about $2,300 touch covered by warranty.

Brand new truck? It would be sitting right in front of the Big Dealership Window saying repair me now, just saying.
Or you could just ignore and use Maps thru Carplay on yer I Phone.

But a Brand New ride? Oh heck no, repair/replace now. Especially considering how much these rolling Computers cost.
All IMHO.

OOF. OK, I'll make an appointment with my dealer. This is one of the few problems dealing with Mark Dodge. I got an incredible deal on this truck, but since I'm half a country away they can't service it and I have to rely on local shop, which ain't exactly comforting if you catch my drift.

I have dealt with the same thing, local dealer will hate it but they will do it. I had to educate my dealer on why I bought out of state, told them it was about economics, not personal.

Talk around to a bunch of your friends whom Have RAMS and see what their consensus is for a decent dealership, than go there and establish a decent relationship, just saying. I did not go as far to buy my truck in 2018, just another county, 1 hour away, but no way in heck I would use local town stealership, they get exactly 1 STAR every time rating by PPL who take their rides there, just saying.
