I have a 2013 RAM 1500 Limited with Power Folding mirrors which I use all the time. The OEM gears are made of plastic and are prone to strip over time. My driver’s side mirror gradually failed (you could hear the motor but gears would not turn). I found two options at gruvenparts.com. They manufacture Brass Spur Gears pre mounted to stainless main shafts and high torque motors. You have to buy the motor as well since the OEM motor will not work with the heavier, metal gears/shafts. First option was to buy a gear/motor combo ($69) and second option was to buy a complete metal cased drive unit ($229). For gear heads, the first option is definitely the way to go. My skills and equipment limitations led me to select option two. They also provide a PDF and video to walk you through installation (includes all of the option one steps not required to do with the drive unit already assembled). The mirror now smoothly extends/retracts and is even faster then the mirror on the pax side which is the original one. Grove parts provides a lifetime warranty and were great to work with. Strongly recommend not buying another OEM part (they are still plastic gears) or having the dealership charge you an arm and a leg for plastic gears. Picture is the OEM complete drove unit. With option one, you would be tearing this unit down and replacing its “guts” - option two you just unbolt and replace.
