On my right rear brake I have been noticing a burning smell coming from it. It doesnt do it all of the time just every now and then. Is this a typical sign that the caliper may be hanging? I was thinking also that the parking brake maybe sticking a little. Its a 2003 2500 hemi. Any thoughts???

we had an 82 olds cutlass supreme and the front brake did this one time, you couldnt smell it and it stopped fine but one day outta the blue brakes started to squeel. after investigating sure enough the brake pads were down to the metal and the disk was worn out and burnt. id investigate it and youll probably see signs its sticking ,hanging etc. good luck

Well I did the replacement today. Man what a bit__! the lower piston on the caliper was frozen and I was not able to push it in. I had to fight it all the way, but it finally came off. No more burning brake smell! I also installed my super 44 flowmaster. WOW what differnce in sound. Its sounds like a race truck. It is a little on the loud side, but I will roll with it. Now I have to post a vid of it.

you can get caliper rebuild kits for about $10 a pop. they arent hard to do at all. Had to do all 4 on my van, and a few other cars out here as well. when that happens its a good indicator that brake fluid isnt being changed as often as it should be. might want to flush your lines if you havent done so already.
