Anyone hard wire their GPS so the plug in isn't taking up room for the cigarette lighter? Trying to get some help to free up a little bit of room and make it look better. Thanks.

I don't see why you couldn't just cut the wire coming from the car charger for the gps and just splicing it into the outlet wires behind the dash.

Well see I thought about that but I wasn't sure if the GPS runs on 5 volts or what. I guess I just need to pull the plug apart and see if there is a fuse in there and see if its the same as the outlet or smaller then just maybe run a inline fuse? And its just a Garmin GPS. I have my satellite radio on the outlet that has constant power but I am thinking about trying to do the same thing and put it on the outlet that has power with only the key.

Yeah I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm planning on doing that to my jeep soon. It's a smart idea if you're gonna permanently mount a GPS.

Well I have where its going to stay. I don't plan on moving it anywhere else. And I plan on keeping the truck for a long time.
