Has anyone installed their own lift? I am about to pull the trigger on the 4 inch RCX lift and every shop around wants an arm and a leg to install. I have all the power tools I would need and have done suspension work on trucks but never a lift. How hard would it be to install a lift?

Hey whats up. I have installed several lifts and no doubt they are time consuming, but definitely possible. It is always worth it, to me, to install things like that myself. If I can do it with some time and a few friends and maybe a few beers, definitely beats paying someone 1k to do it. It will take you probably 6-10 hrs with some help. Most of that being on the front suspension taking it apart and what not. Go for it man!

The only thing I'm afraid if doing is the cuts for some of the new brackets, I understand there isn't any welding (or atleast I think there isn't) but I don't want to mess anything up lol. But I usually install all of the mods and I just can't come to terms with paying a shop $2200 for everything. So the hardest part is the front suspension?

I just installed the Rough Country 6in on my 2013 ram 3 weeks ago. It was not bad at all and I did it by myself.

Ok, what did you use to lift the truck? I have a couple jacks and jack stands but I don't know if that would be ok to use

That's all you need. Cutting the crossmember bracket is easy if you can cut straight lines :roflsquared: I've installed 4 lifts on these 1500s. The last one took about 6 hours with two experienced people.

It's not bad really, but also not easy. I did it with my father in law and we've both done plenty on cars, but never a lift. Took about 9 hours with a lift and air tools. It's possible with jack stands, but a lift is always ideal. The cutting is the least of your worries, trust me. Dropping the transfer case is probably the worst, but only a moderate hang up in the process.
