I'm sure someone who is running or ran ARH headers will comment but I've never seen anyone complain about broken exhaust manifold bolts after doing any header upgrade.

I have a regular cab with a 5.7 Hemi, I don't know anything about headers so can i use my factory exhaust and just install headers and if so what is the difference between short headers and long ones. I just want to know so if i have problems with the factory bolts I will know what i need to fix the problem

There's 2 issues here. Oem exhaust manifolds warping and most likely the cause of the bolts breaking. If it happens on your truck, keeping the exhaust manifolds and replacing with grade 8 bolts is an exercise in futility. Even if you can get the manifolds to seal to the heads you're losing the heat shields. I'm not 100% sure if you swapped out the oem bolts now you'd stop the warping issue later, if it is going to happen to your truck. Doesn't happen to everyone. JBA, BBK shortie bolt right up to your stock system. You don't have to touch the y pipe in most cases. Sometimes someone has had to loosen the exhaust to pull it back an inch for ease of installation with a ratchet strap. There are longtubes that will bolt right up to oem 3" pipe. Sometimes one may or may not have to cut a small piece off the 3". In all cases except oem manifolds the dip stick tube will have to be tweeked. Hope this helps.

6 years with JBA shorties with no problems.

Shorties, ceramic coated. That being said, wish I went with ARH long tubes...

Why are you wishing you had long tubes in? I'm getting ready for same header/bolt swap out. Just last week i started the whispering again... so must have another broken bolt, to the dealer she goes. I'm not hitting 5yr make on my 2015, but am knocking on the 100k door at 80K

Long tubes will not only cure your broken bolt problem they will also give you better performance than the "shorties" give. I would also recommend that you have them ceramic coated for better heat dissipation. ARH long tube headers are the best quality and best fitting long tubes, however they are also the most expensive.

I really have LT headers on my wish list I'dd love to get .... but the emissions thing..... URRGG!!! Are the JBA shorties worth it to never worry about broken bolt issues?? ****** makes a shorty, but it looks like a log type routing.

I think I saw a picture of the Hookers you are talking about and they don't look very efficient to me and to be honest I was a bit disappointed in ******. They've been around since I was a kid(a long long time ago)and I expected something a little better. I think those stock manifolds and stock header bolts will continue to give you trouble--sorta like if you continue to do the same exact thing why would you expect different results----some people have suggested a different manifold gasket--I don't know, I didn't try a different one, I just got the ARH long tubes.

I am considering trying those ****** Blackheart shorty headers when the time comes.

1) They look similar to the OEM exhaust manifolds so there should be no issues with them fitting.
2) Made from 304 stainless steel.
3) They look pretty stout to me and I have never had an issue with any ****** headers in the past.

I have JBA shorties and I got them to avoid broken manifold bolts. I went with Stage 8 bolts. I'm in MA and longtubes are frowned on for emissions.

I would imagine any header would prevent having to deal with broken manifold bolts.

Looking at the new ****** "Blackheart" name I was kinda surprised thats the header they came out with for Rams.... I was expecting a long tube like ARH/KOOKS/STAINLESS WORKS or a shorty like JBA at the very least... wonder how many of them they have sold? Be nice to hear from any buyers.
If it wasn't for the damn emissions I'dd be ARH all the way... now JBA shorties are in the sights as well.

I have a 2008 ram 1500 with the 5.7 and 98,000 miles. I have JBA long tube headers that I'm wanting to put on. I'm a little concerned because a few repair shops said they wont mess with them because if a bolt breaks then they have to pull the motor but one guy said he can do them for a good price but if a bolt breaks then he will need to pull the heads to get the broken bolts out.. How many people have ran across this problem?

^^^Many but you don't need to pull the motor or the heads to get the bolt out.

You need some patience and some skill with easy outs or welding a nut to the broken bolt, clearly the shops you went to don't want the hassle and gave you the PFO, what if, pricing.
