Heat problems

I'm lost as to where to head with this one. My truck only pushes out hot air when I'm driving, otherwise it's Luke warm air. I can hear the blend door moving and if I change it to cold it's cold. Weird thing is the warmest air by far is out of the far drivers side vent.

If I have the fan up all the way it seems like the heater core can't keep up.

The heater core is not leaking

Coolant is full

180t stat is installed


What I'm thinking is I should do a heater core flush, maybe it's plugged and when I'm in gear it has enough coolant flow to kind of make heat?

Weird that the warmest air is on the drivers far side though...

Any thoughts? Should I flush the heater core with amything other then water?

You only need water to flush the heater core. I had this same problem in my 2002. There are plenty of blend doors in there and just because you can hear it move doesnt mean its not broke or jammed. I would try flushing heater core before tearing into the dash though.

Yeah I would flush it, you can buy heater core flush chemicals at auto parts stores to help. And make sure you flush it both ways

Did alittle more quick diagnosing .... Unplugged ac and set the truck to max ac so it recirculates and it blows heat like crazy .... So I do think its the heatercore not being able to keep up with the 10f outside
