Found this nice Ram 1500 sport, 2013 loaded with nav and comfortm crew cab, 23K miles for 33500- but it has the 6 spd.

Was so confused when i saw the pics. The dealer told me how they didnt introduce 8 spd until later in 2013 i guess.

With that said, do you think its a big deal breaker? Is the 8 speed a huge imrpvement i should hold out for and find?

Thanks-

I went from a 6 to the 8, and I think it was a huge improvement. It should help with gas mileage too. I wouldn't buy a 6spd at this point unless it was a killer deal that made it worth taking.

I just drove my buddy's 15' CC Express with the 8spd/3.92 combo...

The difference is 100% night, and day. I thought my 6spd/3.55 was fairly quick. NOT ANYMORE LOL !!!!. Hold out for a 8spd/3.92 set up. Avoid the 3.21 gears if you can.

I still hate the dial shifter. But did try a rental with 8spd (not sure on gears) and there was a noticable difference for sure. (I have 6spd)

this is the ideal combo for me if it didn't have the weird dial shifter. I have 6spd 392s but would love the 8spd

thanks guys. sounds like no brainer to wait for 8spd sport.

I agree on the dial shifter, its probably awkward as hell, but the nice space in the center concole looks nice

When I was driving my friends truck it was like natural habit to grab for the column shift lol.

Smart Man ! hold out for the 8spd. The shifts are also lightening fast. They are so smooth, and quick.

no effin' way I'd pay 33,500 for a 2 year old truck with 23k miles on it.

For another 5 grand you could probably get close to a new sport, on a 72 month loan that's what, 70 bucks a month?

Good call holding out. I missed the price in the first post, WAY too high IMO. I only paid $2k more than that to get my 2014 (nearly)loaded sport brand new.

I would say a fair price on taking the 6 spd would be like $28k, but you'll have trouble finding one at that price. I don't think the market devalues the 6spd appropriately.

Good luck shopping! Also get the 3.92s unless you would prefer better highway mpg over performance :)

I have a 14 CCSB, 3.92 8 speed and used to have a 13 RCSB 3.55 6 Speed.

There is a big difference, and I am actually averaging 21.5-22 mpg. I was around 18.5 on the other one.

I agree with the others. Nothing wrong with the 6 speed Im just saying there is a difference.

It doesn't take long to develop a muscle memory for the dial shifter. That being said, I do wish Ram would have put a different texture on the knob, as a way to help distinguish it from the radio and climate knobs.

Yeah, that's pretty high price.

I've been in one 8 speed and it was a 300. It shifted nice and smooth, but nothing wrong with a 5/6 speed for just the average person.
