I have a 2010 ram sport that I attempted to do a projector/hid conversion. I bought the cheap conversion harness off ebay (big mistake) everything was fine on the driver side but the pass side made a nice buzzing sound from the hid ballast followed by nothing and now even with the factory headlights in I have no high or low beams on the pass side. I couldn't figure out how to reset the tipm with alfaobd but all the fuses were good. Right now I have the battery cables off (going to leave it that way overnight) but what else should I check? (headlight works fine if moved to driver side) I know I can rig up relays from the driver side but would rather fix it properly if possible! I also got a set of retroshop conversion harnesses on the way.

Sounds like a bad ballast if it was buzzing. I would believe that most harnesses can only be connected 1 way. Meaning there are different size/shape connectors for each wire so you really can’t connect it incorrectly. If the ballast is not working it doesn’t matter what bulb you put in for it to power up, nothing should work if it isn’t working. If you take the ballast and HID out and just use a standard halogen bulb it should work.

It’s most likely not the conversion harness. They all use the same connectors and terminals. The only difference between some are the “fancy” resistor used, but the resistor has nothing to do with the high/low beam circuits. Most ballasts do hum or buzz when the warm up. It’s likely that the startup current for that ballast was too great for the TIPM, and shut that circuit down to protect itself. Usually it resets with a key cycle or cycling the headlight switch, but hopefully the circuit resets for you, and it’s not damaged (new TIPM).

little update leaving the battery off overnight did nothing for the lights but after some probing with my powerprobe i discovered the center ground pin was at fault... I'm gonna trace it back and see if i can find the break but if not I can add a ground and mater everything work as it should
