Hey guys so here is a tricky one, since ive been pulling horses lately ive been very limited on trailers, im only able to pull bumper pull horse trailers with my 1500 hemi ive heard about some Ram owners installing a gooseneck saddle in their 1/2 ton is it safe I mean I'd be scared to mess up something with my truck for the sake of pulling a bigger horse trailer what are your guys thoughts?

It all depends on the pin weight of the gooseneck trailer. Go talk to a specialty shop that installs hitches on trucks.

Derekp, a 3rd gen owner has a gooseneck in his truck. Granted, it's got a Cummins swap, but he hauled with his 4.7 too. And it's lifted on 35s.

Most 1500s don't have enough payload to carry the pin weight of a GN/5er. 4G RAMs are worse than most others.

I have seen several 1/2 tons with gooseneck hitches.being in Texas it's fairly common. There's nothing wrong with a gooseneck in a 1500 as long as you keep inside your weights. Rule of thumb goose neck 20% just be careful with your cab clearance I know horse trailers have the v nose to help with that.

My brother actually has a gooseneck in there 2nd gen 1500 and they pull a 20ft deck over trailer with it.
