I'm thinking of adding a Trinity/Hemifever tune to my 2011 1500...

Right now I'm bone stock under the hood, but looking to add a Vararam CAI at some point...

Should I do the CAI first and then the tune or does it really matter?

CAI first then tune

I was under the same predicament. But am now adding a full exhaust. So I was told to wait until I have the exhaust and performance mods done before getting the tune done. Saves the hassle of doing it twice. And probably from being charged for another tune

I have a slightly different answer which is only personal preference…
I have a drop in filter and a magna flow 18" replacement muffler. I had an intake and throttle body added at the same time and didn't notice a difference. I removed them and added the Diablo Sport tuner. What a difference! Even with the basic caned tune I was highly impressed.

Just keep this in mind… When you are ready to purchase any upgrades, buy from Moes Performance. Matt is the best! I have dealt with many performance shops. He is by far #1 in the industry.

It's better to do some mods before getting a tune. It just saves you money this way because you don't have to pay for another tune for the new mods.

But what if you bought the tuner and then only got the custom tune later on or do you have to use the custom tune within xx days of purchase date?

From what I have heard, you can get the tune done whenever you want.

So you removed the CAI & Throttle Body because you didn't feel a difference? You do realize those 2 mods aren't BIG power adding mods. You wont feel much of a difference if any with them. Without a tune, you aren't getting the full benefit of these or any performance mods you have done.

You can buy the trinity and run can tunes as long as you won't they will help your truck stock threw all the mods. A custom tune will really refine every thing, but you'll be fine buying one and waiting. I bought mine when they were first released and I still have no custom tune.

Sean will create the tune with the mods in mind. He'll make adjustments based on the end result. So you can get the tune now, just let him know your plans. You can also send him a datalog when you get the mods and have him double check things to make sure nothing needs adjusting.

True. I asked Sean the same thing. I'm just waiting a bit until everything settles in a bit. A little carbon into the new exhaust to go along with the CAI and TB.

That way the next tune he sends me should be the only one he has to with the data logging.

Still deciding if I want to go with and 89/91 or 89/94 tune. I have access to 94 but only a few stations.

Just get a custom tune from Sean and as long has your not adding some power adder (nitrous, blower or turbo) you should be ok. I have dealt with him several times he is a pretty good stand up guy.

He's a very good guy, always responds to any questions pretty timely and is always happy to make adjustments should you need it.

You will gain more from the tuner than you will from the intake, so I would do the tuner first. Just let Hemifever know that you are planning to add the intake down the road, and he will set the tune up for that. Mods like an intake, TB, or muffler will not affect the tune enough on these speed density motors to require new tuning on most trucks.
