Hid lights stopped working need help

This morning on my way to work, my lights were working fine, I stopped at subway for breakfast, came out to leave and my lights would not turn on, I only had my orange corner lights and tail lights.

How do I go about problem solving this? Both headlights are dead, maybe a fuse?

I need some help getting these working ASAP or I'm gonna be getting a ticket real quick

Got them from JJ I can't remember the brand but it's whatever he uses. It's a 55w 5000k kit

Burnt out ballast or a ground that came loose maybe? If both sides went out it makes me think a connection came loose somewhere...

Good thing it's Friday and you've got the weekend, because you have troubleshooting in your future. Make a plan. Start with the easy stuff first; fuses. Then broken wires. Try using a wire for a jumper to the battery to provide temporary power or ground (1 at a time) and if that fixes it you know what you have to replace. When you do, solder and heatshrink or a brand new wire run are your best friends.

I'll look under the hood at lunch and see if anything came loose, hopefully it will be an easy fix. It's weird that both went out at the same time

If they are both out, then it is most likely a loose ground, blown relay, or a blown fuse. Check those first, and then all other wiring connections.

Does it make any sense if the high beams still kick on? Why would the lows be dead and the highs still work?

Do you have dual or quad headlights? If you have quads, then the high beams are a completely different bulb and harness which is why they still come on and the lows dont.

I just looked again to verify, low beams are dead and highs work when I turn them on.

Not that I'm aware of.. I have no idea what that is. This kit has worked flawlessly for the past 10 months until this morning

Check grounds, check where the headlight ad the hid harness meet to see if that came loose.
But you say the highs come on. It must be that connection I just mentioned. Make sure that's tight, happened to me too and that's what it was.

Ill check that tonight. What does the relay do and how do you know if it's bad? And what causes it to fail?

Well, if you can wiggle it around, it's loose. Make sure the little pin thing is pushed in and then it shouldn't move anywhere.

Ok I'll take a look at that too. If that checks out then what's next? I really need these working again by morning.. So if anybody can suggest what to look at that might be the problem please throw something out here so I can look

D'oh! On issues, please send them in emails - I can get to them quicker and get 'em bounced over to the guys at RS if needed.

Here's what I'd check:

resistor connections, wiring to from resistor, relay controller, corrosion, or wiring from factory mating plug to relay

Just make sure nothing has moved off, no corrosion, etc.
