here's mine, crew cab with the short box. it's still storage i guess but no lid. i also have the 2 small bins under the floor mats on both sides

ngMLgqd.jpg

The bins under the floor mats is what I'm talking about. Only the Crew Cabs have them. Both Crew and Quad have the under seat storage area.

My 1500 big horn didn't have them because they only came in the Laramie. After I bought my 2500 I remembered that now I have a Laramie so I should have them but I didn't remember seeing them. That's when I discovered they don't come in the mega cab. I wish I could still install them. I asked the dealer and they don't do it so I suppose I would have to get a custom install. They just don't store enough for that expense.

If you use it as a cooler how do you drain the melted ice? Is there a drain at the bottom?

the inner part is removable

if you had to get some custom made i'm sure you could make them bigger and you could even make them cooled/heated just like those electronic coolers

That's an idea. Who sells the parts is the next question. I haven't seen those containers anywhere.

If you're talking about the under mats storage they do come in the sport as well. As for draining, the liners lift out.

You're correct. The sport and Laramie share options because they are in the same trim line. The big horn (I had) shares options in the SLT trim line so big horns don't have them.

I know my Big Horn came with them. They where a real cool feature at first. We used them for a cooler when going to beach. But now they are just regular storage.

That is strange... Both my '09 1500 Big Horn CC and my '12 2500 Big Horn CC had/have the in floor storage bins.

I store diapers and spare clothes for the kids in one and a first aid kit in the other. I'm a bit concerned it'll be a rust prone area in the future.

I'm not sure if some one has said this yet as 38 pages are a lot to go through. But on some of the 4th Gen rams with cruise control they should have a high idle setting.

With your vehicle running and in Park turn on cruise control then press and hold set for about 3 seconds and your vehicle should go into high idle.

I've also heard rumor that you may be able to increase or decrease it from 1000-1500rpm but I haven't verified.

My friends '13 Cummins has this, and it can be increased or decreased as well. Great feature for here in the winter, one of the most common things to add to diesels here is a high idle switch for warming up in the winter, they take a little while to warm up in -30 :naughty:

Works on my 2014 Bighorn

This is nice if you want to keep the engine running on hot/cold days, for a brief dash into a convenience mart, etc.

Stop and put the transmission in park.
Leave the engine running.
Open the drivers door, all the doors unlock.
Close the drivers door.
Press the door lock button on the drivers door and all the doors lock.
Open the drivers door, and only the drivers door unlocks.
Remove the (mechanical) key from the keyfob, while the engine continues to run.
Exit the truck, close the door and lock it with the key.

The Charger has the same feture, atleast in '12s it will keep going untill you click it all the way either direction then back to center. Kind of anoying if you accedntly hit it.

My 06 and 08 laramies had that feature. Just enough to let you know I'm coming and not get a ticket. :roflsquared:

Too bad we couldn't separate the Hidden features into year classes, then we know which ones are functional for a specific year truck ( Example: 2011 and earlier: Hold Unlock on Fob to open windows ) Might take some time to get it properly organized, but would help 4th gen owners to know if it works.
This is a great idea.

Going further, I'd love to see a Mod clean up this thread so that all the chitter chat about certain features was in another thread, and this one was just tip after tip. Pretty hard to read and follow the way it is today.

If somebody were really bored, they could pull all this into a spreadsheet by model and year, so that everyone would know that the 2012's had "X" on all trim models, the 2013's had it only on the Laramie's, etc.
