Ram Nation,

I am trying to figure out why my lady's Ram 1500 high beams aren't operating properly. When the high beams are turned on the low beams go off. This is not correct, both low beams and high beams should stay on. I took the headlight switch apart and cleaned it (got her auto select to work again ) but still no low beams on with the high beams.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on and how to fix the problem????

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Trey

That is the correct operation of the high/low beam circuits when a 2009-2012 ram is originally equipped with the dual headlight housings (one bulb serves the function of both low and high beams). When the highs are switched on, the low beam circuit power is cut off. Have you, or the previous owner installed headlight housings that use two separate bulbs for the low and high beams?

Thanks.. I appreciate it. My 2102 doesn't work that way so I thought hers was broken.

Thanks for getting ready to reply
:D I had initially replied about the beams but then I remembered the light behavior was changed at some point.. didn't remember enough about that to give you a useful answer. Sorry for any confusion.

If in fact the headlights were swapped from the Duals to Quads, you maybe able to use AlfaOBD to enable the Quad headlight setting in the BCM(only do this if you have the quad headlights). Then the lows will stay on with the highs.
I think you can disable the fog light drop out also so the fogs(if so equiped) will stay on with the highs.

Thanks- I may end up changing out her headlights altogether to better ones. She doesn't like that they aren't bright enough
