I'd say a tune up if it hasn't been done in a while... I'm sure the guys will chime in with more intelligent answers lol

Haha, all suggestions are welcome, it runs decent its just pretty beat up cosmetically. Im gunna strip the quater off and do some body work sand and paint it and was wondering what I could do to help the performance since its gunna be parked for a while

regular maintenance is going to be your best bet. oil changes frequently and on time, change your plugs and wires if that hasnt been done in a while. diff fluid changes, clean or replace air filter, clean your throttle body, tranny fluid, and reset your PCM once in a while. im up over 100,000 and still running strong. i think the rest of the truck will fall apart around the engine if i let it.

All great suggestions. Just for FYI, my Timing Chain Tensioner "Bakelite Guide parts" were wearing real thin around 130 K and ready to let go but I caught it when changing Cam #2 so keep that in mind as far as internals go and if you find oil down where your spark plugs are don't panic it is just the center shaped Valve cover gaskets getting pinched/sretched and leaking oil down in there, you won't know (other than a slight increase in Oil consumption) that it has happened until you go to change the plugs. At that age a good annual oil Gunk internal rinse will help clean up the inside of the Motor as well.

Thanks for all the advice, what's the best way to reset the PCM? Iiive kept up with the differential changes, the backs been done twice and the from was done at about 55000 miles. And I've dropped the tranny pan once at about 60000. I do need a new air filter and was wondering if anybody had any tips for MPG besides tuners, I can afford that right now.
