Ok. So i have been looking for a truck for a couple months now. Im almost there. I really want a big horn cause thats what i had before (but a 1500). Now i need , yes need a HD truck. So, I have been going back and forth with this to dealers playing games, looking for used trucks, looking out of state, etc. I went to simmons rockwell which is a "somewhat big dealer" here. Saved them for last and they did give me the best prices so far. So here are a couple of invoices they printed out for me. I have been trying to get a big horn 3500 for 40k and it doesnt look like its going to happen here. Not, the options I want. One invoice is for a tradesman (which I might have to go with), and the other is a slt which is supposed to be a big horn. There are differences. Idk f u guys can see them . i took with my phone and not sure how to make them bigger. What do u guys think? Im going to do one last round with the closest dealers to me to see if they will at least match the price cause that dealer on the invoices is far from me.

I thought you were but have you not contacted Dennis Dillon in Caldwell, ID yet. I'm in Socal and will be ordering a truck from them this week. Even the largest dealers in Socal can't/won't touch DD prices or don't respond to my email requests for quotes.

It was hard to read some of the options you had listed but here are the basics I got from Kim (a guy) at Dennis Dillon. I submitted a "Build My Ram" build sheet to Kim for a Ram 2500 Laramie Mega 4x4 6.4 Hemi that had an MSRP of $58,200. My quoted price was $47,036. Today I adjust some of these options that I feel I don't need and the MSRP shows approx $ 54k. I also built the same truck but a Laramie Limited with an MSRP of $58,850. I will be sending these to Kim on Monday and would guess I will get prices of about $43,500 and $48K respectively. If I can get the Laramie for $43k - $45K it is barely more than what you would pay for an SLT model. If you haven't already, give Kim Tolsma at DD Chrysler a call. He's been real helpful and prompt with return calls.

Guy I talked to was Ron wurtz. He said he would give me a price on my build and never got back to me. I even tried emailing him again to follow up and still no response! Idk according to their price of the tradesman there, I would only save a couple grand. Maybe 3k tops. That didn't include airfare and gas back. This is the truck I have configured: 2015 crew cab4x4 3500 with6.4hemi. 4.10 axle uconn 5.0. Pop. Equip , chrome group, snow chief, CD player, engine heater, electronic shift, spray liner, 5er prep, trailer brake, and park view cam. $ 39k

If you look at this one below, it's missing some options that one I add will take the price to around36k then add my gas airfare, and time. Not to mention I'll put2k miles on already:

Kenmore here..my suggestion would be to stay as far away from the local chrysler dealerships as possible because none of them know anything about these trucks and they are all crooks who will not move very much on price for new HDs. They think HD trucks are like '71 hemi cudas as far as rarity and value.

Yeah, I've always had a hard time in western NY to find a good Chrysler dealership. The problem is the way the dealership network is set up. Chrysler can hardly "control" them. Just look at the recent news where Chrysler resorted to using the media to warn it's customers about dishonest dealerships with the Hellcat cars. That's a great example of what I'm talking about. Anyway, I bought my Ram from West Herr and they gave me a great deal and were the only ones at the time out of 6 local Ram dealerships that had a Sport. Their service is about as good as a Chrysler dealership can be from my experience which isn't saying much.

If you could possibly save $2-$3K on a truck but don't want to then I'm not sure anyone can help. Try emailng Kim. He's at [email protected]. Tell him that Hoby Parks from Southern California told you to contact him. I will dig up his phone number if you like.

When you buy a truck out of state does the dealer register it for you, or just supply temp plates and you have to go to DMV wnen you bring it home?

I'd also price having the truck shipped and seeing if the dealer can save me enough money to have it make sense.

I've bought many vehicles out of state.
When financing is involved, the lender requires the dealer to do the registration to protect the security interest lien. Otherwise, the dealer just issues a temp tag and the buyer takes the paperwork to DMV.

Its not that I dont want to save that much. That is a ridiculous statement and you would have to b a fool to not want to. All Im saying is (if you look at the comparisons of the two trademans), by the time you add the options , airfare, gas, and (my) time it really isnt such an atttractive deal. 39k vs 34k. Now add to the 34k 2k in missing options=36k +airfare /gas=37k? I would have to take time off from work. I have weekends off and I make double time on sunday which i always work. So, in reality its really like only saving 2k tops and on top of that i would have over 2000 miles on my new truck already! If it was a deal closer to me, say NCarolina and they fly u out there. Then maybe its worth it. Im not going to get the as low as price. i already talked to them about that. U can get the sale price though. And on top of that, what if you get there and there is a scratch or something on the truck? This has been stressful. I was eyeing another truck I saw in OK which was a leftover diesel dually tradesman for 38k! I know its a "little different", but for the price!I called the salesman and they even sent me an email that said that is the price. Now its on there for 41k! What the !@#$ . I have to call tomorrow about that. Another one in MD was 40k on cars.com but 43k on the dealers site. Another WTF! I have to call about those 2 tomorrow. I hate when they play games. I should have a new or used/new truck to me by the end of this week or at least ordered one. Thanks for listening :)

Looking forward to seeing what you get. I have always been a fan of order what you want and don't settle for something on the lot (unless the price is just a abundance of savings) I have settled to many times on trucks.

I am near rochester. Whats up neighbor? Simmons rockwell is in bath a little SE of you . Its about 85 miles from me and about 100 from u. They have a lot of trucks on the lot but no 6.4's. One of the salesman was trying to tell me that the 6.4 is not a good motor and his friend had one and immediately traded it in for a diesel blah blah. He aslo tried telling me that I would be ok with the 2500 and the 5.7 pulling a 5er toy hauler with a pin weight of around 3k and dry weight of 13k . I was trying to tell him about the payload sticker and he didnt even know what i was talking about. When i challenged him on everything, I pretty much made him look silly. They didnt like me. Even the business manager was telling me "stories". At one point we were talking about prices in other states and he said they would lose $ selling the truck for less than invoice and all that other good stuff. U guys know what i mean. So, he got mad when i asked him how other dealers can sell me the truck for 40k and he can only sell it for 43k. He said "are you calling me a liar". I didnt say anything but, I was thinking ummm.....yeah. Thats your job and you guys are good at it , duh! According to him, they should be out of business. I expect a dealer to make a profit. But , these truck prices are insane. I know its not the best time to buy right now. I hate dealers and I tried the fleet manager thing too.

I cant wait to get it over with and show you! I would never settle for something on the lot. Im usually an all or nothing kind of guy. I love the fact that the vehicle is built and its new and some kid has not been out joy riding it. I might have to settle for the trim downgrade though from the big horn to the tradesman. My limit was 40k and I really want to stick to it.I will do a couple mods and be good. My gf is yelling at me saying i dont even drive the thing anyway. I have motorcycles that i use a god part of the year.

Maybe you should look into a "buying service". A lot of places have them ie; Cosco, some insurance co's and even some credit unions. You tell them what you want and they do all the back and forth and come up with a discounted price. I've never used one but as I understand it that's how it is suppose to work. I have no idea of what they charge--if anything. Might save you a lot of time and stress.

It's complicated. Iguess cause I'm picky about the way I'll take a truck. I will take a 6.4 motor but only with 4.10 axle ratio. I will even take a diesel dually depending on the price. I want certain options with Different trims, etc. I will even take a used truck if these people that were selling them were not out of their minds. You see people selling trucks for prices you would pay for new All over. Lol. So I'm almost done. It's just something I need to go through. I have an idea what people are paying in my area.

It might be worth a try to walk into the dealership that has been the easiest to deal with take your slt trim with all the options and tell them 40 that's all I'm paying other wise im holding onto my current truck (they don't need to know you sold it) for a little longer. Being in person might show them your serious and maybe they will bring the price down.

The invoices I posted were the ones from Simmons. They were quick with their price once I talked to the business manager. It was the salesman that were a joke to deal with. I got the lowest price from them. It was 43k For the big horn loaded up. Gonna make done follow up calls tomorrow. U can tell when they are at their lowest price. I even started this process months ago so they know i have been waiting for them to come down in price.
