I'm totally new to trucks, so I apologize if this is a dumb question. I was installing my vinyl tonneau cover and was in the bed of the truck. I recently bought my truck used. It has some sort of spray in bedliner and plastic covers at the cap. Anyway, in the bed of the truck there is a ~5" line where I can see light on the other side. It's a very small space, but this doesn't seem normal at all to me. Insight?

I have 3 slits closet to the front of the bed evenly spaced. I assumed it was for water drainage. I cant see anything from your pic.

Mine is the same way.

Well that's reassuring. Like I said I have zero mechanical skills/knowledge outside of what I can find online and never owned a truck before. I checked the CarFax and made sure the lines of the body etc matched.

09TRX4, did you get your truck new? No accidents or other issues? Has it gotten worse or did you do anything to it to stop it from growing?

I presume they're for drainage, they come from the factory that way. My 14 has that and I bought it brand new, so its not a botch repair or anything.

Oddly enough, I too noticed that for the first time when installing my tonneau :)

This is for definitely for drainage. My plastic drop in bed liner has 2 small round holes above this area in the plastic as well. Don't wanna haul around a full bathtub after rain now haha.

I bought mine used but noticed it when looking at it. It wasn't wrecked or anything. It must be something dodge does. I've always owned F150s and they weren't like that.

Mine was brand new as well, I was in the box waxing the roof and noticed them in mine. Mine also has the spray in liner from factory and they are still visible. I was just like you, "wtf??" I showed my dealer and they said all the trucks have them. Still, kind of takes you off guard when you see them.

my truck is a 2014, bought new. same thing. agree with every one, drainage. the last truck I saw with holes in the front of the rear box was my dad's 1979 Dodge D100. had 2 holes drilled into the front of corners of the box from the factory. He bought it new too.
