Hood stripe options

Looking for feedback from those who had hood stripes/decals. I have a 2016 ram rebel that is red/black.

I want to do something to the hood. I’ve been looking at :
Mopar hood stripe kit (carbon fiber pattern is what it comes in)



online kit from MoProAuto ( would likely get matte black)



Thoughts/opinions/experiences would be appreciated.

I think my real issue is I haven’t seen pics of the mopar kit on the Rebel well enough to know how that carbon fiber pattern would look. So if anyone has pics of theirs that would be appreciated.

I had a custom design done for my hood stripes on my truck.

It had the mopar logo in the center and the word MOPAR cut out out at the top on each side. It’s a carbon fibre look and feel to it.

One thing you have to be very careful of with decals like this is when waxing and using and products around them. I accidentally hit the decal I have on the side of my truck and it takes the black pigment out of the decal and leaves a dull white like it’s badly faded

Feel that’s where I am at. In some pics I see the Mopar one and love it. Then when I go to buy it I’m like but will that finish really match? I kinda feel like I’m over thinking it. Cuz isn’t the carbon fiber Mopar decal the one that comes on the ram rebel 2016 special edition? That’s what I want - whatever comes on the ‘16 rebel special edition.

not sure, any truck that I have seen with the stripes from the factory have been just flat black.

Here is someone on another forum who says it’s “the factory carbon fiber one” I believe it’s matte black with a carbon fiber weave like pattern on it (if u zoom in you can see it)

that is then the mopar one you can buy, not the factory installed one. also the mopar one that you can buy only comes in the carbon fiber look

House of Grafx can do the factory one in plain matte or gloss, for a lot cheaper

To me, OP, the cooler ones are the designs that aren't stripes but instead completely cover the raised part of our hoods ('16 Reb owner here)...they're cool because everybody else seeming to be buying the striped versions!

I've an idea for my hood, but I'd rather reveal it after it has been applied...

BTW, red Rebs rock! Sure wish I had one, but one takes what one can get, and I'm perfectly happy with my rig otherwise.

Yea. I’ve looked at those as well. I like red but if a dealer had ur color (white two tone) that’s what I wanted. What it came down too was one dealer had white two tone without ram boxes. Another had red two tone with ram boxes. Turned out I wanted ram boxes more than a color. Lol

I like the solid hood vinyl like you are describing better on white than red I think.

Heck, with a red Reb, I wouldn't stripe it at all, now that I think about it! That color topcoat is just too sweet to cover up. I've thought about getting mine wrapped in red, but I doubt my better half would allow it. That's why I'm pondering a hood patch like the one you posted, but in a different color and texture.

Thanks! Also have a pretty big decal on each side of my truck and MOPAR lettering on the tailgate.

as the for OP. if you're on the fence about pulling the trigger I say go for it. Trust me it will always be on your mind and drive you nuts.

Here is a close-up of the Mopar carbon fibre Sport hood stripes. I have that decal on my Ram and I like that it's not flat black but has somewhat of a satin sheen and texture to it.

So close up you notice the texture and pattern. From distance it looks more “normal”.

How is glare from them? A lot of people seemed to say it helped reduce glare. Would u agree?

Ya unless you look at it close up, it looks smooth and uniform.

It does cut down on the glares that you get off of the hood...especially in the Bright White.

I bought a hood stripe for mine that is similar to the stock type but has three sections instead of two.
