Hi

the muffler on my truck has a large hole in it so I need to replace it

This is the first time I’ve ever change a muffler.

From what I can tell the pipe from the muffler to the tailpipe is welded to the rear of the muffler and the pipe from the cat to the front of the muffler seems to be pushed on.

I’m looking at a FlowMaster 40.

I think I understand how to take the muffler and rear pipe off and then push the new muffler on to the front pipe.

My question is regarding the rear pipe.

Do I cut it off from the old muffler and use some type of adapter to connect it to the rear of the new muffler?

Appreciate the help.

There are adapter pipes that you can pick up if you live near an advance Auto or similar store they should have it but if you want it done the right way i would suggest welding or getting it welded so you don't need to worry about an exhaust leak or it falling off during serious driving
