Ram 2500 acting like transmission issue or bad gas after muffler swap

Called the dealer today they are working on new transmission should be ready end of week. I asked if there is a break in period for new transmission and they said no? I read you should break it in for 500 miles? Is this incorrect?

Drive gently no abrupt changes in throttle for a couple hundred miles. No dealer wants that transmission to outlast the truck, they'd be out of business.

There is a transmission learning/adaptive process. Go with your gut and take it easy. Then after 500-1000 miles have that quick relearn process initiaed and drive as normal

For sure, perhaps stay in low rpm's and avoid sudden changes if possible. I wouldn't worry too much, do what you can but don't sweat it.

I have never heard of what you say of a transmission that needs to be babied for 500 miles, heck every new truck I have owned never got babied, just drove normal ( no burnouts/race type driving) and to date have not had any problems from any of them be it the 545, 48 ref or my current 68ref, I have driven all of them at hwy speeds up to 85 mph for 3-4 hours non stop, the only thing I don't do is tow or haul a load in the bed during the first 500 miles to allow the diff gears to mesh.

Drive normal, no towing or hauling heavy or street racing with Vin Diesel for the first 500 or so miles. Thats all I would do.

Nobody is saying to "baby it", just don't drive it like a rental and beat it up right off the bat. All the clutch packs have to seat in and they do that pretty quickly under normal conditions.
