How to convert 2017 8.4 NAV to carplay?

Hello it's been hinted on this forum that the Uconnect 2017 8.4 NAV can be converted to the 2018 radio.
Can someone point me to what parts are required or post that details the process?

And is this mod applicable to Canadian radios?

I think on you tube there's some mirroring type devices.but other than that no true way to convert ra radios to carplay/auto.

I'm not sure what he meant by that.

The software capability just isn’t there for CarPlay with the older radios.

Seems odd he would only specify the 2017 and not 2013-2017. I also recall seeing a European web site replacing an internal module in the RA4 to get Auto but I cannot find it anymore.

The module thing you are talking about is what I was talking about. in the video I saw it just basically mirrored you phone and didn't work as smoothly as a dedicated carplay radio.I know what he posted but sometimes people inadvertently get things wrong or misspeak .as far as I know you cannot adapt a Harmon radio to carplay/auto.you will have to switch to a uas/uaq.I like the harmon radios 1000 times better than the Panasonics so i wish there was a way.

Yes I saw this thread but it seems specific to the 2018 4C.
To my knowledge 2019 are different, screen and module are separate although I saw some 2019 8.4 Delphi all in one screen/module from a 2019 2500 Cummins on ebay so I'm a little confused.

no 2019 5th gen radios will work.a ram classic radio will work.i tried a delphi it fit and powered up but 90% of the functions didn't work.and i would strongly suggest if you get a uas or uaq that it has a ram part number.the only radio from another vehicle that i can verify works as intended is from a 2019 compass and i don't remember the part number.even though it worked it had 5 different vehicle icons you could use on the nav screen.so even it was different from a ram specific radio.

Thank you for the clarification. I will go with a 2018 4C UCQ for Canada. I guess I could try a UAQ from US but I would need the 911 harness and I'm not sure I could get HD Radio and XM traffic link fonctional so why bother.
