Hi, Ram 1500, 4.7L 4th gen , yr 2012.
How do i get all the tap water out of the engine past the closed thermostat after a coolant flush. ? If i remove the thermostat to drain the block of coolant it will have no coolant/water in it when I start up again. Is that ok?

I have a head gasket leak, i wanted to try a sealant which has actualy worked, but the coolant is too diluted !

I drained the coolant out, The rad drain plug didnt work so i drained from the lower Rad hose. I flushed with tap water and a garden hose, ran the engine for 30 minutes and repeat 3 or 4 times until the draining fluid was somewhat clear. I did wonder how i could get all the coolant out with the thermostat closed. I did the above flush, refilled the coolant with HOAT stuff and a head gasket sealant , It only took about 1/2 of the 14Liters specified. I got about 7L of coolant into it. Again i wondered if it was the tap water in the engine block past the closed thermostat that had not drained out. I ran it, the head gasket leak has sealed , tested with a gas test on the radiator cap. Im greatful for that. I then tested the coolant concentration and its freezing at -18C / -3F. Thats not low enough for here. Have i done something wrong? after a flush with tap water and then adding a coolant flushing liquid. Running the engine, waiting for it to cool down. How do i get the correct coolant back in and all tap water out. IM a total beginner.

Drain some coolant out of it,and then top it up with concentrate coolant, not the pre-mixed coolant.
