How to update the BullyDog GT + review

Edit: this problem has been solved (for me at least). Solution is in post #7 below. Followed by some reviews of the product.

Anybody know the secret to update the hemi plus? Tried a few things but no luck yet. Could those that have succeeded chime in and let me know the process?

yep. Go to Bully Dogs website and there is a section for updating. You will have to do it during their business hours tho probably. Especially if it's the first time it's been updated. They will probably have to manually update it for you. Get on thei site, then call their customer service line, with the tuner and cable in hand so it won't take long for them to do it.

Ok. Think I got the secret figured out. I think you need to install it into the truck as a gauge tuner only first (basically just as it comes). Once I did that and tried the update again it worked perfectly. I haven't had a chance to drive it enough for any sort of review yet.

Are you guys getting better fuel economy on the tuners ? Is the power really noticeable like on a diesel ?

The power is noticeable but not as much as a diesel is. You will notice better throttle response right off the bat. I also noticed that my truck will not bog down in two places on my daily commute anymore.

As for MPG, when I parked my truck at work this morning I was at 12MPG (60/40 street/highway). That is up from 11.2-11.3 before the tuner. I am thoroughly impressed. I did not reset my fuel economy after installing, so the average has just been going up. And still going I think. I notice that I get about 3-5 more 'instant' MPG at any given time during my commute. It really is amazing. And I am driving a 7k lb truck.

To see those kinds of gains in a 7000lb truck is amazing. Its only gets better for the half ton guys.

I hear you about the diesel gains. Shouldent be talking about Fords but I have been a Powerstroke guy the last 10 years and not really towing as much as I used to so I switched to the Ram Hemi . The Bully Dog was stupid impressive on my Powerstroke, didnt really think the tuners did much for a gasser though.

I gave my Bully dog to a friend of my sons and he gave me his gt tuner but I dont think they have updates for a 2012 Hemi yet for some reason. ( at least the last time I checked)

Just another quick update:

I am now at 12.7 MPG overall. The 'street' driving on my way home from work yesterday I averaged 14 MPG.

So that puts me at about 1.4-1.5 MPG increase from where I was before the tuner. That is just normal driving too, not really babying it. My goal is 13 MPG now.

in response to dogcar3's fuel mileage there is definitely an increase but not as much as the tuner indicates.i recently put a diesel gt on my 2012 3500 and my around town gas mileage went from 12.0 to 12.9 finishing out the tank i was on(about 10-12 gallons before filling up).went out of town for few days and reset truck pod to see how they would match up.filled up when gas light came on for about 30 gallons although tuner showed i had only burnt 19.if anyone thinks that i have a setup problem as far as how much fuel the tuner thinks is being burnt i would appreciate any help but looks to me like numbers may be fudged to give the appearance of better economy
