Hey guys..I have gotten a few quotes on stereo upgrades for my 2010 sport..the mopar kicker kit 2200 to 2800 with kenwood gear...
I don't really want to spend that much so I'm tryin to cut the costs down some...
I can save about a 100 buy gettin a dd kw hu off ebay but as for speakers and amps the locaal prices are fairly close, even factoring in duty n shipping ect..
Heres my question..
Quality amp/subs and speakers with stock hu....
Hu and speakers..
I have listened to the door speakers un amped and the blew my mind but I don't remember if they were jl/kenwood stuff or focal
Would I save much by not gettin a touch screen hu and is it any better in sound quality..I wanna keep my sirius and I don't need steering wheel ctrls cause I rarely use whats in her now..

If you upgrade hu you will need to get the Sirius adapter, as far as sound quality... I think upgrading speakers will really help you out. That being said, the stock hu doesn't push those new speakers to full potential. Of course, a new head unit will usually cost a fair bit too.

I gues I didn't ask my question correctly..
Is it better to keep stock head unit but buy the speakers/amp/subs (1800 tax install inc)

OORRRRRR

Head unit no amp (hu is a kw ddx470) with better speakers face plate sirius mod(if I remember right 1350 tax installed)
Just thinkin about some sound deadener to..
For everything tax and installed is approx 2800, don't have my sheet with prices on me at the moment..

Change just the speakers for now, you will see huge gains without changing HU...and you can always add a 4 channel amp, or a 5 channel later if you plan to add a sub

You can save a ton of money by installing yourself. I was a little intimidated by doing it at first. I had speakers, amps, subs, a head unit, Bluetooth kit, and back up camera in my last truck. I checked two places around here, and both wanted $1,500 or more to install everything in my new truck, so there was no way I was going to pay that. The only new parts I needed were two amp kits and some speaker wire. I picked those up for about $100 and spent a Saturday putting everything in.
