Huge Project Ahead

Well I’m just going to grab a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 4x4 Quad Cab from a fellow down the road. I don’t really know the history on it, other then it’s lifted (3” body lift) however looks bigger, and that there is nothing wrong with the engine, except a driver’s log tube header that has to be replaced (sitting in the back seat). The passenger side was replaced by this owner I’m getting it from. Rust on button tail gate and rocker panels. Ill be taking care of the body this summer myself. Going to dive into the engine and replace whatever gaskets and north need replacing so I have a good understanding what’s going on under the hood. Just an exhaust leak is pretty all
I hear. The exhaust is going as I’ll be replacing that with something custom, don’t know off hand, but something nice I can throw on there. Have to go through and check all the brakes/rotors/calipers, cv shafts, bearings. Check out how the rust is underneath as I basically bought this for a project truck. My 2011 Ram 1500 5.7 is done. What should I be looking for with over 275,000KMs on the clock. I have no idea what it’s been through or had changed, neither does the guy I’m
Buying it off of. Oh, $800 Canadian if ou must know.

Well got it started. Front suspension and fill exhaust from headers to tip done. Working on steering rack and rest of the rear suspension before diving into the body work./ frame restoration.

Removed the tailgate and rear bumper to tackle the rust on both of them. Sanded and painted the rear frame and trailer hitch.

I’d love to have a cheap ****** second truck. I want to build a dirt rally truck. It’s always been something I was interested in but never had the chance to try. Looking good though.

This is going to my son in October. He turns 16 and can go for his drivers license. Trying to get it done, but don’t want to rush, doing things right.

That’s great. I hope he is helping and I’m sure he will really appreciate that. I know I would have. I always tell my father I wish he had kept his 92 Chevy single cab long bed. It Was a 5 speed manual with first gear ultra low and 4wd.

It’s a surprise, he thinks it’s one of my project trucks and has no idea, but yeah he likes it and has his hands in there too.
