I'm starting to have anxiety too and I'm just starting to shop/negotiate for a 2025 Bighorn 1500 with the HO engine.

For the most part a new vehicle leave the dealership only to return for maintenance and wear item repairs, you hear very little about those on the forums.
If a vehicle does break down there's a good probability the owner with turn into a keyboard beater ranting and raving how bad the vehicle is to any/multiple social media sites.

SHAP has a new 1500 rolling off the end of the assembly line at least one a minute for at least two shifts every day.

If you get it, maintain it properly.
Use top-tier fuel not mom and pop stuff
Stay up on the maintenance and I wouldn’t go over 5000 on an oil change and tire rotation that 7500 or 10,000 mile, period is BS.
Drive like a truck once in a while it should last you OK my only concern would be the new technology reference to the twin turbos and separate cooling system they have, that I would keep an eye on.

And for the guys that buy one with the SO motor not the high output motor don’t run 87 in it run at least 89 octane on the fuel stay off the 87 just saying.

All above IMHO and some fuel issues reported.

CAVEAT: Older kid has a 25 Bighorn with SST motor, got him running 89 in it, no issues.

I don't think you could get the HO motor in anything other than the RHO, Limited, Longhorn, and Tungsten trims.
Not normally, wonder if "he" is ordering special or he has incorrect info, assumptions. Would have to get back to the poster and have him clarify.

I watched a video yesterday ..

A experienced mechanic wearing a Dealership uniform, was driving a Ram with the SO Hurricane.

He had memorized what someone told him to say about that engine.

You could tell by watching his facial expressions, he did not really believe what he was Spouting.

Things like it was more powerful than a HEMI engine & quicker off the line
He looked sincere when he was talking about the HP 75 Transmission

The day that i bought my compressor, i just wanted something to fill my portable tanks.
I have 2 tanks like this

at the time i had a small tank & compressor like Roofers might use.

It was this time of year & i walked into a Store that had all kinds of Hardware

This was in an area that had rebuilt tools
This was in that section at a nice price

THe Husky Compressor was not what i was looking for,
BUT it never runs out of Air

One of the biggest Issues I've heard is the thermostat housing on the hurricane is junk. Plastic fails and locks the Tstat causes you to overheat. I picked up a new 2024 BTS with the 5.7 last Feb as I didn't want to get the twin turbo 6. Thats alot of complexity and added things to go wrong with dual turbos. Ask ford how the ECO boosts have been working out for them.

Like all engines, the SST has a few concerns mostly around software (which is being updated regularly) and the thermostat housing which is a rare issue and will be recalled if it becomes a concern the average guys should worry about. Overall, particularly for an engine that has only been out 2-3 years (Wagoneer), it has been super solid. We just bought a SO Bighorn and absolutely love it. In response to a couple comments above, the youtube guy that said it is quicker? The SST destroys the hemi, it's not even close. 0-60, 1/4 mile, roll ons, towing, etc. Makes the power much more smoothly and linearly. Also, our SO doesn't mind 87 octane at all. The engine was tuned to operate safely on it. Might you get a little more power on 89-93? Sure, but it won't be noticeable seat of the pants and most folks are noticing no MPG benefits with the higher octane fuel either. Lastly, there was a comment about poor reliability with ecoboost engines. They have had issues, but not to the level implied above. All these V8 engines now have cylinder deactivation and issues with that over complication. These twin turbos are more involved but maybe not as much as one assumes. Remember, the V8s these days are not the same or as simple as they were 20 years ago.

Every new widget has bugs to work out the first few years. At some point the engineers have to be told to stop trying to polish the **** and send it out the door or you'll be stuck in a never-ending engineering loop. Sometimes it also requires real world testing over a longer period of time and that involves us as the consumers.

I never buy a new model and will usually wait 5+ years before deciding to go after something just to give it time to work out the kinks. Maybe the Hurricane will prove itself to be a good engine but it will be difficult to decide that within the first 2-3 years. Time will tell.

Thanks for your experience I left the dealership Saturday and engine light came on with a faulty vibration censor so hopefully when that’s taken care of I’ll have no issues as I only drive probably 8k miles a year and not hard on engines I’m hoping this is a solid engine and they learned from Chevy and Ford turbo problems
