I went into an off road shop. Just window shopping....meat gazing....whatever. Any who, the dude working there took a look at my truck, very brief, didn't do any fancy measuring or computer typing, and said "you may not be able to clear 17" because of your larger breaks, might have to go 18"."

What do you guys think? The guy could have confirmed but I didn't really press the issue. I have the max tow, if that matters.

I have chosen some tires, thanks to RF input, now I just need a bit more advise.

Thanks. Btw, if you have photos with 35" tires and 17" wheels, please share.

Thanks :)

Sounds like crap to me. RAM's have 17" wheels standard all day long.

He's full of bull, but 18's look better and if you ever decide on going higher 18s are your better choice.

IMO

I hope you are a girl..lol

But yes 17s is the smallest you can go unless you grind the calipers.

lol, not a girl, thanks for your input. I found a few threads on here, through a Google search, RF search IMO is 50/50 on results. That have some good info with dudes running 17's. Thanks ya'll.

Uhh, I hate to disagree. But I seem to remember reading a few post of certain 17 inch wheels not fitting over the brakes. Don't get me wrong, 95% of aftermarket 17's will fit. And I could be thinking about 2500 and 3500's. Odds are that the 17 inch wheel you choose will fit.

I was told same thing a year ago or so.
I didn't question it but I looked at my door sticker and saw that my spare was a 17" so yeah he's wrong. Some may not fit but most should.

Don't go any less than 4.5" backspacing if you plan on lifting/have a lift. Unless you don't mind spacers.

Edit: I don't know the technical word for it. Is 5 "less" than 4.5 or "more" when referring to backspacing?

My spare is a 17" wheel on my 2014 4x4 QC 1500 , I do not know it's specs , I know it's steel.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong .
To my knowledge NO more than 4.5" back spacing and as far as offset goes you need NEG .

There are certin lift kits that warn you against a 17" wheel up front due to lift components such as the sterring knuckles , but even with those lifts you can still fit 17s so far as you have proper back spacing and offset to get the inboard rim of the wheel away from the lift components and or your giant break assy's on the 4th gens.

Hope this helps !
