I cut a 2X10 to fit in the indentions behind the fenders. They also sell plastic bed extenders that flip in to function as a divider when the tailgate is closed.

2x10 cut to fit into the indentations by the fenders.
Another tip would be to drill a 3-4" hole in the centerline of the 2x10 spaced every 8-12" apart. From the top screw in long screws (timber screws or gutter screws) through the holes you drilled. This way you have spots to clip your bungee cords to. Helps to secure your cargo.

my old 1999 2500 HD, I used Green Treated 2x10's, cut to fit in the slots.
Round the bottom corners. so the boards fit snugly.

Run a 2x10, along side each wheel well, creating an "H" Pattern.

Not that heavy, to remove and install, lean against the out side of the garage or shed, when not used. Winter, it holds just enough sand, to really give the truck a nice ride. Slap a green treated 4x8 over the top and you still have your truck bed to use.

For this little 1500 ii got now. been thinking about oen of those flip bed extenders for cargo seperation. DOnt; do much anymore, reason I went with smaller trucka dn short box.

good luck to you and let us know what you end up doing

might be an idea another oculd use, down the road.

Bed Rug and a cheap load bar. I paid like 14 bucks for my cargo bar, unbelievable how much it helps. Super easy to use, much easier then rachets. I use it all the time even with lineX, never had any issues. They store super easy because they fold to like 1/2 this size, fits behind seat super easy.
