So having 3.55 gears and going to a 37" or 35" tire, the truck should be re-geared? :/ What would be a good gear for me to look into? I do a good mix of flat and hilly driving.
to run 37's you will probably want to.
with 35's you can get a way with it
Keep in mind this is ALL personal preference. If your truck is strictly a pavement pounder, then re gearing may not be an option for you unless you live in hilly area's or you tow.
Your effective gear ratio with 3.55 would be as followed once you slap the tires on:
35's - less than 3.42 effective ratio
37's - less than a 3.21 effective ratio
Again, if you do or have non of the above and can live will the slight decrease in launching power and more of a decrease with the 37's. Then you are ok
Again, this is personal preference. Many dont re-gear and they are ok
ME? I couldnt stand it and 2 weeks later swapped out to 4.56
with 37's (I had 3.55 to start)
So my effective gear ratio after the 4.56 swap and 37's is, less than a 4.11
Hope this helps
