I had a bad torque converter in my 2014 and did same thing. Never threw a code until 18000 miles and would clear quick. Have it checked out under warranty
Edit, that was what I thought to but read entire thread.

It's the MDS in partnership with TC lockup. The problem is known since the use of the 545rfe and MDS.

It isn't mds. It does it with mds disabled too.

Then never mind, mine did exactly what your describing and dealer fixed it. From a stop with steering wheel turned sharply on flat or on an incline at low speed. 2014 Ram 2500

Good luck!

What did the dealer do?

What did the dealer do?

Reflashed the system after submitting a STAR case. It wasnt the MDS activation along with TC lockup :roflsquared:

I'm told others have fixed it using HPtuner software.

Mine started doing the stutter at about 5000 miles. It feels like a slipping clutch but only happens on slow starts/light throttle as the trans shifts into the next gear prematurely and RPM is about 1500. My steering wheel doesn't need to be turned, happens going straight. Pretty sure it's the poor trans programming and the torque converter since if I don't accelerate like a little old lady so the transmission doesn't shift and/or the RPMs climb briskly, it doesn't happen. Now, there IS another stutter type of acceleration that does occur at steering lock - such as in a tight parking garage. But that's really the only time it happens to my truck.

as for other problems, at 6000 miles and 5 months, everything else has been pretty good. no paint issues, no leaks, nothing. Minor issue is the feeling of excessive driveline lash at roll on throttle or when I let up on the gas, but no clunks. kinda miss my Tundra since it never had any mechanical issues. But it also couldn't tow 15,000 lbs safely. Apparently a space shuttle yes, but 15,000 lbs, no.

Your in to high of a gear and tranny will not automatically down shift, toss in MDS activiating at too low of a speed and there is two parts of the problem. Next time it happens down shift.

I have this problem on mine too, I always just attributed it to the crappy shift points people are talking about. It seems right at the point that it would shift to 3rd, but I slow down to take a corner and ease back into it - it hesitates. Almost seems like its gear hunting to me. If I let off, or floor it - the issue resolved itself. 2014 Laramie BTW

I'm having the same problem, started around 3k miles, I now have about 8k miles. Techs keep telling me they cannot duplicate the issue. It stutters around 1k RPMs no matter the incline, straight or turning. If i give it more on the pedal its fine, but the second i am light on the pedal it jerks. Engine shut off on me once while accelerating in traffic after it hesitated and ******/stuttered violently.

Made another appointment for may 27th to raise holy hell, but as others have already pointed out seems like nobody wants to address this issue because there is no official problem they can bill it back to. I'm not a car guy, I don't know enough to speculate the cause, I paid $60k for the truck expecting the pros to deal with this crap when it comes up.

I love the truck other than this issue, but it's starting to make me regret going from my 1500 Laramie to this 2500. I had only great experiences with my 1500. Extremely frustrating.

This may help you try to 'Learn' your TCM in certain situations. I only copied and pasted the learning curves you can manipulate in 1-3 gears without a scan tool. If you would like the entire procedure and/or theories of operation, etc., let me know.

From Alldata:

DRIVE LEARN - RFE TRANSMISSIONS

When a transmission is repaired and a Quick Learn procedure has been performed on the Transmission Control Module (TCM), the following Drive Learn procedure can be performed to fine tune any shifts which are particularly objectionable.

NOTE:
It is not necessary to perform the complete Drive Learn procedure every time the TCM is Quick Learned. Perform only the portions which target the objectionable shift.

NOTE:
It is important that this procedure be performed when the transmission temperature is between 80 - 110°F (27 - 43°C). If this procedure takes too long to complete fully for the allowed transmission oil temperature, the vehicle may be returned to the customer with an explanation that the shift will improve daily during normal vehicle usage. The TCM also learns at higher oil temperatures, but these values (line pressure correction values) are not available for viewing on the scan tool.
LEARN A SMOOTH 1-2 UPSHIFT AND 3-2 KICKDOWN

Use the following steps to have the TCM learn the 2C shift volume.

NOTE:
The transmission oil temperature must be above 110°F (43°C).

With a vehicle speed below 48 km/h (30 MPH) and the transmission in 3rd gear, perform multiple 3-2 kickdowns.
Repeat Step # 1 until the 3-2 kickdowns become smooth and the 2C CVI becomes stable.

LEARN A SMOOTH MANUAL 2-1 PULLDOWN SHIFT AS WELL AS A NEUTRAL TO REVERSE SHIFT

NOTE:
The transmission oil temperature must be above 110°F (43°C).

Use the following steps to have the TCM learn the LR volume.

With the vehicle speed around 40-48 km/h (25-30 MPH) in Manual 2nd, perform manual pulldowns to Low or 1st gear at closed throttle.
Repeat Step # 1 until the LR CVI becomes stable and the manual 2-1 becomes smooth.

He replaced the muffler and air filter, he didn't change the camshaft or something major. Nevermind the fact that most of the people who are having this issue are completely stock.

Truck is still doing the stuttering. But I'm just driving it till it breaks completely. Cause I'm tired of mechanics telling me they can't duplicate it. I don't have enough time in my days to mess with them.

I'm a bit concerned. Just bought a new 2016 Megacab with the Hemi6.4. At 250 miles started noticing the lag or stutter. Then next day started accelerating from a red light and engine just shut off completely. Pulled over and it restarted fine. Reading this thread I'm worried I bought a lemon? It's At the dealer this weekend. Really sucks to take a brand new truck in for service the first week of ownership. I will post follow up when I get it back next week.

Mine did the same thing in the first 500-1000 miles. I started it in my garage, and when I put it in gear it died. It started right back up, and drove fine. It has never done it since. I don't know what happened, and new I couldn't duplicate it, so I didn't bother taking it in.
