I have a 2015 Ram 1500 4x4 crew cab. I bought it used and it already has a 2 inch level kit, don't know what kind, 285 65 18 Nitto Trail Grappler tires, and Moto metal 970 18" rims on it. The Nittos are almost worn out and are going to need to be replaced. I do not know the size of the rims. I am wondering if I can put 33x12.50r18 size tires on it and it will not rub. Please don't high jack this thread and start taking it in some crazy different directions other than what I am asking. How do I tell what size the rims are? Do they have an offset? And will the 33x12.50r18 rub at all? Thanks and looking forward to you guys answers

Post a pic of the truck/wheels or measure the lip of the wheel

According to moto metal website in the 970 18" they only offer 18x9 +18mm offset or 18x10 -24mm offset with our bolt pattern 5x139.7, it would be easy to tell with a pic

whether 33x12.5x18 will fit depends on the wheels specs. Take a wheel off and look and see if there is any info stamped on the back....measure the total width of the rim and post pics...like said before

Nice wheels. I took a year and a half to pick mine out for my 15 Crew cab.

Like mentioned above, the size is stamped on the back somewhere. Guessing on your current size, your rim is probably at least 10". If so the tire will fit fine and with the level won't rub.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I went to a truck performance store at lunch today and the guy told me they were the +18 model. Still don't know if they are 9 or 10 wide. He said you should have no problem with the 33x12/50/r18 rubbing. I just want to make sure before I order. I am planning on going with the Toyo open country R/T instead of the 285/65/r18 Nitto Trail Grappler I have now. They should not rub, should ride a little better, last a little longer, and be a little quieter. Hopefully slightly better MPG too.

if they are the +18 offsett then they are the 9" wide wheel. Chances are he is wrong and you will have rubbing against the upper control arm.

You really think so? It is a very slight change in height and width from the 33/12.50/18 and the 285/65/18. I could go with the same size but the 33/12.50/18 are slightly cheaper right now.

yes, its the width that is the problem, not the height.

and i say most likely because not all trucks are created equal, but most cases 12.5" wide tires rub the uca with a 20x9 wheel and +18mm offset. However there are a few cases where it doesn't.

Well ****.....I thought I had it figured out. Thanks for not letting me mess up. I would have been pissed if I would have gotten them on there and they rubbed. Have any of you had any experience with the cheaper mud tires then? RBP? Lexani? Falken? I could buy almost two pairs of the RBP for the price of the Nitto trail grapplers

If the shop is willing to test one, have them mount the 33x12.5 Toyo R/t on one of the front wheels and see if it clears. If not, If you like the real stuffed look you could get the 285/75/18's

Well the problem with that is that I was going to order the tires online and have them shipped to my house then take them to my mechanic and have him put them on for $60. After reviewing what you mean about the upper control arm, it does sit VERY close at the center pivot to the back of the 285 65 18 that is on it now. But is does pivot from that center point though, so it may still fit. Im just not sure.
