Good point,i just assumed he meant the state, not the city Mike. My mistake.
No worries, Rick. And at this point we have no idea whether it’s the city or the state lol.

One of the most comical things I ever saw in my life was someone trying to navigate DC with a map of Washington state. I was just a teenager but I noticed the ocean was on the wrong side and figured something was wrong based on that...

Agree with all the above. The "muffler" is the DPF and no shop is going to touch that. You can do it, but you're likely to have to do it yourself as long as you understand the following:

a) you will void any type of warranty you might have
b) you may hinder any future dealer work that you might need (you'd have to discuss with your local dealer)
c) deleting that piece requires a lot more than just removing that one piece.... you'd have to do a full up delete and I think on a 2024 it requires replacing the ECM completely.
d) may open yourself up to EPA liability in the future (had to toss this in for the internet lawyers so they don't think I'm suggesting that you do it)

It does make the truck pretty loud though. If you did go this route, you may find that you would want something like an AeroXL muffler to quiet it back down a tad. Sometimes when towing there can be a fairly loud drone in the cab around 2k rpms.
How about drilling a hole right through that emissions crap? F the government

I have a cold air intake on my 2008 6.7 which replaces the muffle sleeve in the intake tube and the air box It does not effect the emission and allows one to hear the turbo spooling and the exhaust brake better which sounds pretty cool
You can also replace the tailpipe after the oxidation canister without effecting the emission but that doesn’t change the sound much if at all but the bigger tailpipe looks cool
If you want to hear the turbo, one can simply remove the baffle in the stock intake. First thing I always do because the foam baffle deteriorates with time and the little pieces wind up through the turbo. The stock intake flows extremely well as-is.

is there value to a dPF back exhaust upgrade? I think stock is a 4" and upgrading would be a 5"

No, you have the SCR behind the DPF. The only thing you could do is add a 5" pipe from the back of the SCR which isn't going to be worth the effort.

Find an older Ram with 12 V Cummins and do what you want without any of the BS. Just read an article last week of the "15 best eng. ever put in a pick-up". The old 12 V Cummins was the best eng. ever put in any pick-up but the 24 V Cummins didn't make the top 15. Not near as much electronic BS, NO DEF BS, & BS in general to deal with. Also, for many, a slicked up old truck will attract way more attention than a new one... Critical drawbacks to older got no beeper to tell you you're too close to the edge of the rd., no heated steering wheel, no A/C seats, & your tooth won't be blue.

Also add that the fit and finish on the older Rams was severely lacking and unless you get a stick shift or a built transmission, you'll likely suffer from that as well. The only good thing about those old trucks was the 12v (just be weary of the killer dowel pin).

The 6.7 is a beast of an engine and the engine in itself is dead nuts reliable. Transmissions in the 4th gens and up are pretty darned good too. The only real drawback is the emission system as it is with every modern diesel.

No matter what you buy.. you're going to spend money somewhere. On the new trucks you'll pay for emissions repairs or a delete. On the older trucks, everything but the engine.

Just curious, but why do some people what to make these things louder?

That beats me... I hate that mine is any louder than stock now. I'm slowly working back towards quieting it back down.

These things can be obnoxiously loud if unrestricted. Not so much in the cab, but if you're next to the exhaust a lane over it can be teeth rattling.

I had a *stock* 7.3L Ford I had to shut down in order to use a drive through lane. In the cab was fine, but with the windows down and something for the sound to bounce off of and neither of us could hear what I was trying to order. "Cool" I guess for some people, but wasn't really my thing. I just want a coffee and to get back on the road...

Challenger at a red light a few days ago had obviously done a cat delete since I could smell gas in *my car* next to him at a light. Even with modded exhausts I've went hi flo cats just because I care about not breathing in that **** more than I care about "owning the libs" or whatever. Diesels, I'm a little more understanding as the reliability sucks for people who bought a diesel but should have bought gas suffers.

I can drown out a 50 foot radius around my 68 Satellite 440. Yeah, it'll make your eyes water at idle. Smells like freedom.

Sounds like the sort of thing I'm happy to see someone else own.

I'll stick with my 5th gen Camaro SS, the perfect blend of performance, retro styling, modern convenience, and dead nuts reliability for me. I'd rather be free to load up and drive cross country to do things in my toys. Not saying that's "better", just that's what's much more what I'm interested in from a car.
