Installed the ICON 2.5 coilovers around April '22 , so they've been though 2 Midwest winters.
Finally was installing my 4" Zone lift, and was going to set the ICONs to ~ +1 to net 5".

Took the ICONs off, and noticed some problems. The shock bodies were entirely oxidized. The drivers side lower body cap (??) was loose. And the adjustment collar was non-adjustable.

I sent a note to ICON asking about these, but haven't heard anything back. They do only have a 1yr warranty, so not expecting much, but for what I spent on them, I'm pretty disappointed in their condition.

Has anybody else experienced these issues? Is there something I should have done to help protect the surface from corrosion?

Yes, unfortunately salted roads are a ******. I haven't experienced rust like that but i've seen what salt and grime and winters can do. The body on those CO's is more likely steel like most coilovers and most go then through a different coatings for durability depending on manufacturer. They can be restored to full shine but they'll need to be disassembled for that and recoated.

I've used this stuff but it's something you want to clean and and reapply every couple of months or so during winters with snow.

Regarding the loose cap hopefully that CO didn't leak oil/gas. I don't think that's good at all, it's all fixable though but of course it sucks because obviously we all expect more when paying for more expensive stuff.

Call Icon or see if you can find local shock tuner shops in your area and make the inquire on refreshing those CO's. Nobody will give you much for them in current state, but again they can all be fixed and restored outside/inside.

Good luck.
