All, I just wanted to give a Nick at GotExhaust a shoutout for the badass service and badass coilovers I just got. What a great suspension setup. Anyone looking for parts I highly recommend getting with Nick.

Have you had bils to compare to? Are these ride height adjustable and if so how do you set them?

What all do you have for suspension setup? I see upper control arms... anything out back?

Nice looking truck!

These are much different than Bilsteins. They ride completely different, more firm but yet pretty good on the road. The bumpy stuff is way different, the Icons are really made for off road stuff.
They’re also much more money than Bilsteins.
Yes, they’re adjustable by the collar.

I ran bils before these. The ride is amazing on these, they soak up bumps like they aren’t even there. Bils are also a great setup don’t get me wrong.

I have ready lift upper control arms and bilstein 5160’s in the back with no rear lift. I also have a 1.5” body lift

That’s like comparing a little league t ball player to a major league ball player
I was just curious. I've heard they are more firm and rougher ride than bils so was just curious

No, they ride completely different. They are firm, but still very compliant. Slow speed bumps aren’t super smooth but the faster you go the smoother it is.

When I had Bilsteins I noticed how the ride was soft but the rebound felt harsh. The Icons are a bit stiffer but the valving is there. You gotta remember the Icons are constructed completely different. Overall the front end seems much more planted.

Those look great, appreciate the photos and info. You had 5100s before, correct? What lift height did you have the 5100s set to? What lift height did you gain/lose with the Icons? Did you adjust the Icon height at all or just leave them as they came? Did you order/install the 5160s at the same time as the Icons, if so, how come you didn't go with Icon 2.0s? Sorry for the annoying questions....

Edit: Whoops, meant to quote the OP @zstampe . But, it seems like @michaelrc51 might have done the same suspension switch over and be able to answer my questions too.

I'm waiting for someone to ask why your strut is upside down, or tell you that you installed it wrong haha

I get the curiosity just made me chuckle when I read it. Its not you @bigred74 its just this forum has Bilstein ****'s that come out of the keyboards like the 5100 series is the do all end all. The Bilstein 6112's are at least able to hold their own but they are so out numbered from the 5100 guys they get eaten alive. Its quite comical to read a lot of this stuff and keeps me entertained with a good laugh.

I’m not the OP

OP- your truck looks great. You’ll love the shocks, I have about 10k miles on mine.

I went from Bils 5100 set at 2.1” and a 1” spacer in the rear to Fox 2.0s set at 2.5” and rear the same to Icon 2.5 set at 3” front and the rear with the 1.5” Icon springs. I also have Zone UCAs and a 1.5” zone body lift.

The 2.5s have a larger body and this much better fluid movement and adjustability compared to the 2.0.

You beat me to the reply before I got my edit up, haha.

Thanks for that info though, I'm currently on 5100s but considering the options that you've gone through (Fox 2.0s, Icons). I'm going to assume your opinion would be to save up for Icons over the Fox 2.0s?

It really depends what you want. The fox 2.0s are great, they probably handle low speed stuff better than the Icons. The Fox 2.0s felt great and were definitely quite an improvement over the Bils.

The Icons are pretty stiff and may be a little annoying to some people. Personally, I love the ride of the Icons. The faster you drive the better they are.
