Hi, guys, I've read ALL the threads here and on Z to make a decision which way should I go with the lift.
What I definitely wanted is first to level the truck. I also had doubt about the lift, so first decision was to go with leveling BUT taking into account that somewhen I'll go with the lift.
Rancho QLL - was abandoned. I don't know why, but feedbacks I've read are 50/50. Also I'd like to have adjustable height and not the ride comfort.
Bilsteins. Those ones have everybody around. But I do not like the ride comfort they reduce as on my opinion. Also away.
FOX. Beautiful. Rebuildable, adjustable, ride comfort can be adjusted etc. But a) they were out of stock and b) the lift possibility (0-2 front and 0-1.5 rear) the can provide is limited in case of installing of real lift in the future.
So... I decided to go with ICON Stage 1. Thank's to Andy from GotExhaust - he had a single set specially for me with the special price ))
a) fronts are 2.5 and 0-3" adjustable
b) rears 2.0, suitable for 0-3"
For the future I think to have a Zone 4" lift kit with 3 rear springs. With ICON only I will have a possibility to keep all lift parameters and avoid a rack! That was also a crucial factor for me, aslo as no need to match and order new rear shocks or use the ones coming with lift kit.
As you take front coilovers in the hand, the same moment you become a feeling of beautiful and solid, perfect engineered product.
My truck is 13 RAM 1500 with 40 000 mi, so knowing this and about lot of issues with front UCAs, I also decided to order new HD UCA from Zone - thanks to BullysPerformance. A bit later I will post some photos of stock UCA vs. Zone Hds.
Before it I had a rack of 2.4". Front 36.2", rear 38.6"
Sorry, the only picture I have before is:
Installation took about 4 hours. I've set fronts at 2/3 of a possible adjustable height (black mark on the photo)
Followed by Zone UCA:
With the rears was a bit issue - as rear shock upper support is a bit smaller, than rear upper sitting place, so we had to cut a piece from upper support and round it, then painted - on both sides:
At the end just tried on the 40-s ))
It's a joke )) They were just arrived for one 2500 ))
After have it done the result is: 38" front and 38.6" rear - which is absolutely comfortable for me. The only thing is to know, new coilovers are taking their place and after 1.5-2 000 mi must be rechecked and readjusted once again. After 1.5 TMi mine have sat down on 0.3".
UCAs differences can be seen on the pictures below:
they are night and day difference. That's all I can say.
2 the Ride. There is no any good or bad words I can describe my feelings, I mean ICON - is PERFECT! Damn, I'm glad as I'd bought the completely new, moreover, different truck! It is comfortable as no any bilsteins and even new stock shocks can bring - total eating of small bumps, pits or any joints combined with absolute absence of any swing and play. No fever after 80-90 mph, corner speeds have gone up etc. I'm not towing or loading my truck too much, so I can't tell you how it will behave then, but I definitely recommend Stage 1 for most usual drivers, who likes ride comfort and likes to pull a trigger at highway...
p.s. thank you for readining and sorry for my possible errors, I'm not an english speaking guy. Still, I'll post some photos as soon as I get my new tires (Nittos G2 285/65 20 and Worx 803 with -12).
