Ideas to fit JL Audio 10W6 in 1500 crew cab?

I’ve got a JL Audio 10W6 that I pulled out of my old car, and I’m looking for ideas to fit it in my Ram 1500 crew cab without loosing my back seat (permanently folding it isn’t an option). In its current box it definitely won’t fit, but I’d have a box custom built if it can be done.

To start, has anyone done this before? Experience good/bad/ugly? How’d you do it?

My truck is a 2019 1500 Classic (so 4th gen body), FWIW.

My other option is to get a Stealthbox, but it seems like a shame to downgrade from a W6 that I already own! However, perhaps the optimized tuning of the Stealthbox would make up for whatever I lose in driver performance :/

It can be done. You will need longer seat bolts as well about 1.25 inch riser. Then the rest is fiberglass to get it to fit. The best way would be to do just the passenger side, and have the woofer a tilt to its not standind straight up, maybe facing the left or right side about 30 degrees.

Its above my expertise but it can be done.

A couple guys on here have them including a pair of 12w6 in a net audio tall box all under the seat. The w7 has too big a magnet, but the w6 will fit.

As @BWL said, I’m one of the guys running a 12W6V3 in a Net Audio Tall box. I’ve always wondered if I would be happier with two 10s vs the single 12. The Net Audio quality is top shelf but you do pay a bit more. Although still less than a Stealthbox which only uses a W3 I think.

Thats funny as I was thinking of pulling my box and trying a 12 and an 8. 12 on the 60 side and 8 on the 40 side, but folding floor operation is my biggest restriction.

I think the foxbox would have enough mounting depth in one of their 12" boxes with the 12" to 10" adapter ring. I've got the dual 12" vented box that I used to stuff my old cerwin vegas in. Came with the seat spacers and the build quality ain't bad, but I did have to enlarge the openings to get my subs to drop in.

I spent many days pondering going dual 10W6 or single 12W6, both with a NET audio box.

I settled on a single 12W6 in the passenger tall box. The seat lift is required and I ultimately chose this setup since I wanted some rear storage under the seat stil.

The net audio boxes and customer service is outstanding btw. I’m glad I went this route.

I put (2) JL 10W6V3's in my '14 Crewcab without having to raise the seats. Got an internal volume of 1.4 CF before adding the woofers. They sound incredible!

I had (2) 13w6's in my 2005 ram quadcab, but had to raise the seats 6". They sounded amazing, but the 10's are a perfect fit, and sound for my current rig. When the seat is flipped down, you'd never know they were there. Ive attached the only pic I can find on my PC, but will grab another when I get to the truck to show how its "hidden".

Circling back, i ended up getting a Stealthbox with W3. The installer I hired told me he could get the W6 under the bench if I let him raise the bench up, which I was prepared to do, but when I told him I planned to have a child’s carseat in the back, he advised it wouldn’t be safe since the raised bench would compromise the locking mechanism that the carseat uses.

He’s have done it though if I’d told him to go ahead with it. I’ll guess I’ll just guilt my son about it when he becomes a a teenager


Edit: Thanks to all of you for sharing your experience. I know I took the easy way out. I think I’ll keep the speaker around, and once he outgrows the carseat in a couple years I may give it a shot.

For those of you who have used the Net Audio boxes, are they generically sized, or are they optimized for the driver?

Child safety vs better bass. I’d say you made the right choice.


But yeah, definitely use it when he’s a teenager.
