Hello. New to forum. Can’t find information here.
I’m looking at two used Ram 1500 ST (5.7/4x4).
One has 69xxxkm and 2994 hours (pic 1).
One has 119xxxkm and 682 hours (pic 2).
How is this possible? I’m confused. 119xxxkm over 682hours is almost 172km/hr average isn’t it????
Can any of you experts look at this and help me understand?
Thanks.

Wonder if the one with 69km was a fleet truck or something that did a ton of idling? I would avoid that one as it is likely to have cam issues if it idled a lot. Also prices are inflated right now so watch out and dont over pay to much for a truck.

My 12 doesn't split between idle and drive hours, it just shows 3060 hours with 93k miles and I know that it started life as a Fastenal truck.
On the ones that show both idle and total hours are they added together oris one a portion of the other?

You can't use those display hours to make decisions; the hour displays are not trustworthy.
Lots of anecdotal evidence that the DRIVE hours randomly reset to 0.
I just posted a similar thread a few days ago:
https://www.ramforum.com/threads/ca...ive-hours-1-13-22-5-44pm.185245/#post-2604976

I haven't gone back to the dealer to verify the numbers on my truck, but apparently the accurate counts are stored in the PCM.
Here's a link to a similar, interesting thread on the Cummins forum:

Like stated above, you can't trust the hour meters in these trucks. Neither one makes any sense. I converted them to mph.

Top avg. 7.4 mph
Bottom avg. 91 mph

Common actual averages are usually 30-45, some as high as 55 and low as 20. Extensive idle drives the avg. MPH down of course.
So if it was a company truck that idled alot and was used in city where top speed was 35 mph I could see the 7.4 avg being accurate but I'd definitely avoid it.

I'd guess it actually is 1074 hrs. That makes more sense to have an average speed of 38 mph.
I bet it's closer to 2000 hours. With mostly local driving, a 38 mph average might be too high.
