Yesterday my Ram 2500 5.7l was driving totally fine and great took it on a 150 road trip no issues. This morning get in to go run some errands start it up and the engine idles weird. Does the normal high idle but as is coming down it would go back up like 100 rpm. So it would fall 200rpm and go back up to 100rpm. After the Idle settled put it intro reverse to go and waited for it to engage reverse, it usually take between 2-5 seconds dealer says its normal IDK, this time it took longer. When it finally went into reverse gear it would idle backwards in reverse normal but as soon as I give it a little gas it slows down and feels like its slipping and then even jerks a bit like its trying to stop but only if I'm giving it gas. So I apply brakes, stop, and put it into Drive goes into 4th and is stuck there and pull forward back into my driveway and now the check engine light is on.

Put it in park and get out to check the fluid level with the truck on I hear this weird buzzing kind of noise from the truck. Laying down next to its definitely coming from the transmission pan. Check fluid seems normal.

I pull the codes and get P0841 and P0876.

Restart truck, no buzzing noise, put it in drive and it will idle/go 5mph forward in my driveway fine. Put it into reverse, normal slowness, idling backwards as soon as I give it gas it slips then jerks a bit and that buzzing noise comes back put it into drive now its 4th limp mode.

Anybody experience this? Thoughts?

Im thinking a solenoid is bad maybe? That probably why its slow to go into reverse 'normally'

Truck: 2012 Ram 2500 Long bed crew cab 4x4 115k miles no bells or whistles bone stock its even silver

UPDATE: Poking around the truck and trying to diagnose it further. It will Idle forward in Neutral and when I put it in park it will settle forward even though my driveway is inclined towards the back.

Well just to start this off a 2-5 sec. lag going into reverse is not normal. You dealer is full of sh*t.It should be instant. The codes are operating pressure sensor codes and one of the causes is an internal leak.I think that your reverse circuit(whatever is applied during rev be it clutch, band or both)has not been applying enough pressure because of leakage. This results is slippage= slow engagement. The PCM can compensate for a while but I believe yours is too the point where it can't be compensated enough.Saying all that though you should clear the codes, road test it and see what codes come back. What kind of shape is the fluid in?Does it smell burnt and is it a dark color. If after it persists then I would pull the pad and filter, open the filter(smash it) and inspect for metal and clutch material.JMHO.

The fluid condition is bright pink and very new looking and does not smell burnt. Had fluid and filter replaced about that 20k miles ago. It seems like the transmission is stuck in a forward gear. Even in park or neutral wants to go forward.

That what I believed but the dealer didn't think it was an issue

I'd be looking for another dealer.

Let me clarify I took it to the deal 2 years ago with the slow to engage reverse issue when I purchased the truck. I have not been back to the dealer since or talked to the dealer about this current issue. I haven't driven the truck more than 15 feet since the reverse issue this morning. Trying no to drive it until I have a plan on how to fix it or get it fixed
