Alright so i bought my 04 Hemi Ram with an engine code causing the check engine light to come on. Truck runs perfect, so has not really bothered me. However, I will need to get this code to go away by the time inspection rolls around or I will be unable to renew my registration here in NC. The code is for a bad engine coil on #5, but obviously that isn't the case or I would have noticed misfiring or even crappier gas mileage than I already get haha. The previous owner changed the plugs and had the engine computer re-flahsed and said the code persisted. So I go out to investigate yesterday, just for kicks, and try to use the on board engine code reader by doing the sequence of on off on off on, I must have tried this 20 times in every way possible. I got nothing. Any thoughts?
